2011 calendar2011 is the year of the volunteer, so to find the 12 stunning images for

this year’s Woodland Trust calendar we ran a photography competition

for our volunteers and supporters. The result is a wonderful celebration

of native trees and woodland. Our volunteers play an enormously

important role in achieving our aims, and our volunteer photographers

– both professional and amateur – provide us with hundreds of stunning

images every year to help us promote woods and trees.

Grow a tree house Over its life a single native tree will be

a home to literally thousands of animals,

insects and other plant life, some of which

may only exist on that species of tree.

Each new tree we plant will provide a home

for years to come, and sooner than you

might think.

A breath of fresh airDo you know someone who loves to be out

in the fresh air? Trees play a vital role in the

carbon cycle, capturing and storing carbon

dioxide in their structures. Create 25 square

metres of woodland and absorb a tonne of

carbon dioxide.

Native trees Our native trees are cell grown from seed collected around the British isles and come with an undisturbed root system to get established faster.

Tree saplings are normally 20-40cm in height. Shrub varieties, ie holly, are normally pruned to generate more side shoots and are therefore 10-20 cm tall. All saplings are delivered directly from the nursery and will be delivered separate to other items ordered.
