The iStep SP5000 features 3744 gold plated barometric sensors that measure the pressure exerted by the foot every 0.25cm2. The high concentration of sensors results in unmatched accuracy and allows the device to perform an accurate reading, even for a small child.

Amazingly, this compact device incorporates 1326 infrared LED's and receptors that are aligned every half millimeter. The infrared light wavetechnology combined with the proprietary iStep software captures an accurate size of the foot (both length and width) without using moving parts.

Images can be viewed in two or three dimensions in either high or low resolution. In addition, tests can be done in a Postural (static or dynamic) format.

According to ABC, (the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics), “an ABC Certi-fied Fitter of therapeutic shoes (CFts) is an individual trained and qualified in the provision of non-custom thera-peutic shoes and non-custom diabetic multi-density inserts. A certified fitter of therapeutic shoes is competent to practice within the scope of non-custom therapeutic footwear only.”

The Aetrex/NCPA Shoe Fitter program will fulfill the educational requirements needed to qualify for the ABCcertificate. In addition, individuals must pass an ABC standardized test and have 250 hours of patient contact.
