Dear Friends:

WE KEEP HEARING THE SAME WORD echoing through the halls of the Kroc Center, and

resonating over the still waters of our souls. Community.

Its roots are in our creation, when God formed us to be in fellowship with Him and others.

It permeates human history with epic moments of triumph over failure, when our

forefathers lived the ideal with humility and compassion. It flows through the mission of

The Salvation Army and pulsates through the purpose of this Center. It is a necessary

element of our name and identity.

We are also aware that people want and need community more than ever. Our cultural

priorities are shifting from accumulation of things to the creation of meaningful

experiences; from stuff to memories:

In the community of shared life we participate in one another's struggles

and hopes. We bear each other’s burdens, weep together, rejoice

together, lift one another up in prayer, and love one another as Christ loved

us. There is togetherness in this fellowship that goes far deeper than

camaraderie as we carry out our pledge to be with one another in every

circumstance. – Phil Needham

IT’S OUR PRIVILEGE to be your community center. We’re pleased to be the place where

you exercise with friends, and honored to be the place where you re-create as a family.

You stir the waters of our swimming pools with your friendship, and glide over the surface

of our ice arena with grace. You bring cultural life to our theatre, and creative genius to

our classrooms.

We are inexorably linked as you bring community to this center, and as we provide a

center for this community – and we’re looking forward to sharing the wide open country

of 2010 with you.

Sincerely yours,

Captains John & Lisa Van Cleef

Corps Officers

the halls of the Kroc Center, and

THE SALVATION ARMY INTERNATIONAL MISSION STATEMENTThe Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian CHURCH. Its message is based on the BIBLE.
