Spook Splash Excitement! 2010 Top 5 Achievements

Each year, Wyoming Swimming, Inc. lists the

Top5 fastest times in each event offered in

each age group and gender. These Top5

recipients will be honored as the fastest

swimmers at the Top5 Banquet in Casper

November 6th.

Wow! We broke some

attendance records this

year. We had the most

Lander swimmers attend

the 27th Annual Spook

Splash than any other in

the history of Lander Swim

Club. We had 69 swimmer

entered this year, and our

previous record was from 2

years ago with 66

swimmers. The meet went

extremely well with an

excellent base of volunteers

to make things run

smoothly!

To everyone who helped

with concessions, awards,

announcing, t-shirts,

timing, officiating, and

clerking! Thank you to all

of our sponsors for your

generous support! Thank

you especially to the club

members who spent so

much time organizing

volunteers and

sponsorship, inviting teams

and officials, and spent

countless hours emailing,

calling, and meeting. This

meet was a huge success

and wonderful way to kick

off the winter season!

LVHS Lady Swimmers Break 2 School Records ...Spook Splash continued:

meet ever.

-44 swimmers participated in the

mock meet (previously 32)

-38 swimmers practiced the

Wednesday night before the meet

(previously 36)

-41 swimmers improved times

which accounts for 42% of all

Lander swims

-There were only 18 total

disqualifications which accounts for

only 6% of all Lander swims.

-We had 44 new Winter State

qualifying times from 18

swimmers.

The best part is that many of our

swimmers enjoyed the meet and

competing so much, we have 20

swimmers going to Laramie and 11

swimmers going to Jackson in

November. Keep up the great

work, everyone!

It takes a lot of guts to be

an LVHS swimmer, believe me

I know. It takes courage to

say, “No,” to friends when

they want to hang out

because you have morning

practice. It takes strength

of character and

determination

to attend

every morning

practice and

still be able

to get your

homework

done. It

takes

everything you’ve got to do

come to practice early for

dry land training and even

more for an 11,000 yard

practice, and not fall asleep

in class the next day. But

most of all, it takes self-

confidence and pride to do all

of this and take 2nd place.

The LVHS Lady Tiger Swim

Team came through the 3A

State Championships with two

new school records, personal

best times, and exhibited the

values of good sportsmanship

as they supported swimmers

from other teams. This season

was different than others

because the entire team felt

stronger, faster, and kept

working

harder, too.

In a meet in

which Jackson

potentially

could have

won by 100

points, Lander

was able to capture 49 of

those points.

Most of all, Lander lady

swimmers are most proud of

how hard they worked—all of

them, not just the special few.

This year they were truly the

LVHS Swim TEAM! When you

see these swimmers be sure to

ask how they did and I’m

pretty sure you’ll first see a

satisfactory smile.
