    Directory download (general) All vehicles

In general, the following applies: The vehicle only displays what is sent from the mobile telephone The vehicle requests the data and the mobile telephone supplies the data

The vehicle cannot influence what the mobile telephone supplies or how and in whatsequence it supplies it

For this reason, there is no " one to one solution" to the aforementioned complaints.Instead, the " trial and error" method is usually the only way to resolve complaints

However, the following pages detail a few ways to determine the causes of the complaintscenarios and eliminate the complaints with a view to keeping the number of resolutionattempts as low as possible and as effective as possible

However, please always bear in mind that both the mobile telephone and thesynchronisation of directory entries via Outlook are major sources of error

Blank contacts are displayed In this case, either several numbers were saved for one contact, or numbers were

saved without a contact Delete these entries or correct them accordingly

Directory is not/only partially/incorrectly transferred Remove the rechargeable battery from the mobile telephone Delete all bonded Bluetooth devices on the mobile telephone/vehicle and connect the

mobile telephone to the vehicle again (see the screenshot on the next slide) Ascertain the most recent changes before the complaint occurred

Reset the settings Browse through the directory for blank entries (contacts without numbers/numbers

    without a contact) and delete these entries Delete special characters such as @ , ;, /n , /r , *, &, (), , ? , !, _ , =, # , , +, - in the

directory Check whether the maximum possible number of transferable contacts or numbers has

been exceeded (see the table on the slide after next)

Directory is not/only partially/incorrectly transferred Check which entries have not been copied

If it is only caller groups, such as friends, family, VIPs or work, change/delete thesecaller groups If the directory is incomplete (i.e. all entries after a specific entry are missing), thelast entry transferred or the entry following it is usually the cause of the problem (notapplicable to MMI3G; in this case either all or nothing is transferred) The transfer runs but at the end of the transfer no entries are available

Delete the entry most recently saved before the complaint occurred Resynchronise the directory (via Outlook) or create new vCard files Check all settings in Outlook, especially for:

"Name anzeigen als" (Display name as) and "Name speichern unter" (Save nameas)

Directory is not/only partially/incorrectly transferred Initiate the directory import manually. This is possible with MMI3G (see the screenshot on the

    next slide)

Delete the directory entries in blocks (by name group) to find the problematic entry Delete all entries and try to send one new entry saved in the telephone manually Set the factory settings on the mobile telephone Set the factory settings on the MMI

With MMI3G, the settings under Setup Bluetooth Settings can be madeseparately for the directory, the telephone and the Bluetooth connection (see thescreenshot on the slide after next)

Directory is not/only partially/incorrectly transferred Ensure that no third-party software has been imported (this can be the case with

branded mobile telephones Vodafone, for example) If the name entries have been switched (first name/surname), the mobile telephone

does not have two separate data fields for first name and surname during the transfer(even if two data fields are "displayed" in the mobile telephone)

Reason: The mobile telephone does not have the standardised Phone-Book- Access-Profile (PBAP) or this profile has "crashed" in the mobile telephone. You canreactivate a crashed PBAP by removing the battery. With Audi, directory entries are sorted as "SN, FN" by default.

Directory dow nload (Blackberry and iPhone)Solutions All vehicles

Blackberrys and iPhones, unlike other mobile telephones, have additional configurationoptions that can influence the directory transfer In company telephones in particular, there can be various security settings, known as

policies There are configuration options to specify that only specially selected directory entries

be transmitted (only favourites, all groups etc.)

Please also ensure that the essential functions are activated for the Bluetooth options(see the screenshots on the following slides for examples) With the iPhone there is a "soft software reset" (press and hold the button at the top,

then slide the red slider to the right until the telephone switches off). The telephonesettings are retained

Other special features: An iPhone has no SIM Access Profile (SAP) Simultaneous use of UHV and AMI is possible. To this end, the AMI must be connected

to the vehicle via a cable and the UHV via Bluetooth

Error codes when executing the software update If the software update stops and an error code is displayed (e.g. error code 128 or

error code 157), the update must be restarted If a second attempt to execute the update is unsuccessful, there is an error reading the

update CD. The update must then be restarted using a different update CD The MMI attempts a restart during the update, but does not start again

Possible procedures are multiple resets and the disconnection and reconnection of theMMI

If the MMI still does not start, it must be replaced The problem does not arise with the new update CD 8R0 906 961 D, Zug 110

Note: Discontinue use of the old update CD. After replacing the MMI, the tester asks for a license number

This part of the test program is not yet relevant

    Procedure: 1. Cancel test program

    2. Execute separate target/actual comparison

Back-up documentation following software update unsuccessful

Technical background: MMI 1 cannot restart independently after the update and parameterisation The control unit no longer responds to requests from SVM SVM provides the response "Hardware prfen" (Check hardware) for all other MMI

    components

Procedure: Following the update, this display appears: Select "Abort documentation" The MMI now restarts Wait until the MMI display

is populated again Create back-up documentation with SVM code

    RNS-E from MY 2010 A3, A3 Cabriolet, TT, R8

Cause: A new generation of RNS-E has been used for MY 2010.

In addition, a new DVD (8P0 919 884 AH) has been used (this isbackwards compatible). If you use predecessor DVD with the newRNS-E, the aforementioned complaints will arise.

DVD 8P0 919 9884 AH contains the same map data asthe predecessor DVD with index, but has been extended to include

the new functions of RNS-E from MY 10.

Remedy: For RNS-E from MY 2010, only DVD 8P0 919 884 AH may beused. This has been supplied with new vehicles since the change inmodel year.

The predecessor DVD with index is no longer available in the spareparts sys tem.

In urgent cases, please open a TAC ticket.
