Parameters and Tagsfor Materials



1 Manage Materials in Project File to Enter Values for Parameters

Category Parameters

Use with Keynote Tag

Use with Material Tag

Enter Parameter Values as needed

Name

Use a standard naming convention

for materials!



2 Open and Edit Default Material Tag

Default location for out-of-the-box Tag Family Files is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\RAC 2010\Imperial Library\Annotations\Architectural\

File – Open - Family



3 Confirm Family Category is “Material Tag”

This is where you tell Revit that this Tag is to be used to tag Materials in a project.

4 Edit Material Tag Appearance and Label(s)

Category Parameters From Material Identity

DataSet Desired Font Name and Size by changing

Label Type

Select Label Parameter(s) (Material Identity Data Items) to be part of the Material Tag

Tag Label



5 Save Revised Material Tag and Load into Project

Also, be sure to load your standard Tags into your

standard Project Template file!

When you have finished editing this default Tag, use FILE - SAVE AS to rename it and save

it in your folder for custom Families.

Then Load it into the Project File.



6 Tag Materials in Project Views - Exterior Elevation

You can edit the material

“Description”GLOBALLY either in a Tag Instance here or in the Materials list.



7 Control or Revise Tag Type Used

Any Tag Family can have multiple Types.

You can load multiple Tag Family files into your Project.

When you start to Tag an element, you can select the Tag Type you want to use. Default is the last Type used.

After tagging, you can select the Tag and change it to a different Type.



8 Tag Materials in Section

here or in the Materials list.



9 Place Callout in Floor Plan Print View

Open Callout View to add Tags and other annotation

(dimensions, notes, etc.) for printing.

A new Callout View is automatically created when you place a Callout Symbol in a Plan,

Elevation, or Section View.



10 Tag Materials in Floor Plan Callout Detail

Note: Tags that are not completely within the annotation boundary WILL NOT DISPLAY.
