Community of Origin for Cara StudentsNotes

1 Data in this report is for The Cara Program as a whole (including our traditional program, our social enterprise (Cleanslate), and our two community-based centers (the Career Pathways Resource Center and the Quad Communities Center for Working Families)), and is for 2009 unless otherwise noted.

2 Job placements include only “quality” job placements for Cara students, which are defined as positions that (1) are permanent or temporary to permanent; (2) align with wage goals of at least $10.70 for individuals facing moderate obstacles to employment (e.g. individuals who may suffer from one or many of the following barriers: recovery from substance abuse, survival of domestic violence, no high school diploma or GED, limited work experience) and $9.00 for individuals facing high obstacles to employment (e.g. individuals who also suffer from the above captioned barriers and face an even higher challenge of no work experience, low levels of literacy, multiple convictions on their record or recent incarceration); (3) have benefits or the near-term opportunity for benefits; and (4) are a minimum of 25 hours per week.

3 Retention report does not include individuals placed through the Career Pathways Resource Center or the Center for Working Families who do not also attend The Cara Program.
