November 2009 Newsletter

The 26th Annual Spook Splash was a resounding success attributed to our dedicated athletes, coaches, parents, volunteers, and sponsors. This meet is our biggest fund raiser of the year and one of the first meets of the winter season, so it was wonderful to see so many athletes participate, especially from our own club. We greatly appreciate everyone’s contributions and we extend a warm thanks to those who made contributions whose athletes did not participate in the meet – thank you so much for your teamwork!

The December team meet will be in Riverton on December 12-13th. Take advantage of the close distance and help us continue your athletes’ enthusiasm for competition.

Congratulations Tiger Sharks on swimming an excellent meet!

The LVHS Girls High School Swim Team placed 2nd at the 3A Swimming and Diving Championships. There were some extraordinary swims made mostly by young ladies who are currently or previously Tiger Sharks! The 200 free relay team broke a school record, and the 400 free relay team broke both a school and state record (set by Buffalo in 1999). Congratulations to all of you! We are all very proud of your accomplishments!

Practice TimesWe have a few swimmers who are practicing outside of their normal groups with permission from their coach. However, we have a few athletes who have a tendency to jump from group to group, or who are beginning their warm up 10-15 minutes late. It is very important for swimmers to be in appropriate groups so that they swim with

others of the same level and age group. It is also very important for all swimmers to start practice on time (especially if practice only lasts an hour.) This helps coaches ensure the physical safety of all swimmers and prevents overcrowding. There are a few athletes who can swim with either the Blue or Green groups. Therefore, if these athletes would like to practice on Mondays, they must practice with Green for the full two hours. Parents, if you are

unsure which group your child is in, please contact Jennifer at lsc@wyoming.com or 332-5074.

Tardiness to practice is against club rules. Those who are excessively late will be excused from practice. It is highly disruptive to coaches’ plans and other swimmers.

Be a good teammate,be on time!
