1964 500,000-tpy electric steel meltshop supplied on turnkey basis to ESWB, Germany. It was the start of the activity as large-size turnkey plant supplier and the first European steelworks fitted with integrated ecological systems.

1982 Danieli starts a fruitful collaboration with BMZ for the development of the Zhlobin works for steel cord and wire production, Byelorussia.

The fruitful collaboration started in 80’s between Danieli and BMZ (Byelorussian Metallurgical Works) located in Zhlobin, has received a new confirmation with the recent orders for the EAF #1 and #3 revamping with Fastarc technology and major upgrade of bloom CCM to cast round sections.

Danieli Davy Distington hi-tech 2-strand slab caster for 2.5-Mtpy production of thick slabs. The machine produces HSLA and medium-carbon steel grades, mainly for pipe applications, very well-known as crack-sensitive steel grades. Produced slabs, both for internal and surface quality, are a milestone in Azovstal production, particularly for such sensitive steel grades.

The meltshop is made up of a 100-t EAF, 100-t LF, a 6-strand “Fast Cast” high-speed conticaster for casting common and quality steels into 130 to 180-mm billets, plus complete fume dedusting plant, material handling system and auxiliary facilities.

> The Thyssen’s 2-strand thick slab casting machine, in Beeckerwerth plant, has a productivity of 270,000 tons per month of High and Low carbon steels. The revamping carried out by Danieli has lead the plant to increase its productivity up to the 18% and a reduction of the slab defects more than the 50%.

> Hot strip mill revamping: the plant will produce up to 3.5 Mtpy hot rolled coils in specialty steels up to API X80. > Danieli Automation will provide the rolling mill, edger and coilbox with basic automation and process control system (HiPAC technology).

> New 750,000-tpy ultra-high capacity superflexible SBQ bar and section. The new plant will be characterized by a very high production capacity and an extremely wide range of finished product types and sizes. The mill will be structured on two production outlets, namely Line 1 for smaller size round bars and sections and Line 2 for SBQ bars and large size profiles. > Rebar finishing line featuring Danieli Spooler technology.


The total design capacity of the line is 378,000 tpy of galvanized coils, starting from hot rolled pickled steel and cold rolled low-carbon steel. It is one of the largest greenfield projects in Eastern Europe.
