COVERAGE MAP• 50,000 watt KRLD is heard in 106 counties!

• One of the things that sets KRLD apart is our Skywave Service. At night, waves bounce off a charged layer in the Earth’s atmosphere and travel for hundreds of miles covering the Southwest, from the Rockies to the Mississippi River.

* The reason daytime and nighttime groundwave coverage differentiate is because two different antennas are used day and night. The nighttime antenna is used to suppress the skywave towards the northeast.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Held the third week of August, Restaurant Week is going on its 11th year with over 120 participating restaurants. Diners make reservations for a 3-course prix fixe dinner at the area’s finest restaurants for only $35 per person. $7 from each dinner goes to benefit the North Texas Food Bank and Lena Pope Home.

KRLD was named “Partner in Philanthropy” and given dedication of “1080 Place” at a special ceremony for the Denton State School. For 29 years, KRLD has raised money and gifts for the over 700 developmentally disabled residents of the school. By calling a special hotline listeners make contributions to holiday gifts for the residents.

More than just a race, the marathon is a citywide event founded in 1971 by Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper and Pearl Harbor Survivor, Tal Morrison. Runners from 13 foreign countries and 47 states travel to Dallas to participate in this world-class event. The Marathon is recognized by Runner’s World magazine as one of the top 20 marathons in the United States and is a fundraiser to benefit the Scottish Rite Hospital.

“Breakthroughs in Medicine” is a one-day health event that features some of the leading health physicians and researchers from around the country. These medical experts share the latest in medical technology as it pertains to the most critical issues. Medical and health related vendors are also on-hand with interactive booths and breakout seminars.
