The Buckhead Area Transportation Management Association (BATMA) works cooperatively with community partners to improve mobility, accessibility and air quality in Buckhead by sponsoring programs and providing incentives to encourage commuters to take transit, carpool, vanpool, telework, bike and walk to work.

Carpool• It only takes two or more commuters riding in a personal

vehicle to form a carpool

• You don’t have to carpool everyday – Carpooling 1 day a week will reduce your commute costs by 20%

• BATMA will help find you find a partner

Vanpool• An arrangement by which a group of 7 – 15 people

commute to work in a van leased by a 3rd party provider

• Vanpools operate like mini-transit services & run on a set schedule

Alternative Work SchedulesFlex-Time • Flex-Time allows employees to set their own start and end times for work • There are core hours everyone must work• Allows you to avoid peak commute times

Compressed Work Weeks• Compressed Work Weeks allow you to

shorten your work week • 4/40 – 40 hours in 4 days allows one day each week off • 9/80 – 80 hours in 9 days allows one day off every other week

Telework• Teleworking replaces travel to and from work with working at

home or another location on a full or part time basis

• Teleworking is the only commute option that completely eliminates air pollution and significantly reduces traffic congestion

Bike / Walk• Bikes are allowed on most

transit systems

The Guaranteed Ride Home program (GRH) provides commuters who carpool, vanpool, bike or take transit to work with up to five free taxi rides* home or to their car in the event of one of the following:

You or your commute partner(s) get sick at work and have to leave early
