Hunters: The Red Lake Indian Reservation and scattered parcels of Reservation land in the surrounding area are closed to non‑band members of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians except by authorization of the tribal council. Most of those lands are not posted, but they are marked in ownership plat books for Beltrami, Lake of the Woods, and Roseau counties. Please see page 126 of the 2009 Hunting and Trapping Regulations Handbook for more information.

DEEr arEaS 184 anD 197The portion of the state within the boundaries of the Leech Lake Indian Reserva tion, except where the reserva tion bound ary in tercepts the boundary separating deer areas 184 and 197. See the map above right for this boundary.
DEEr arEa 203The portion of the state within the boundaries of the Agassiz National Wildlife Refuge and the Elm Lake, Eckvoll, and Mud Lac wildlife man age ment areas.
DEEr arEa 224The portion of the state known as the Sherburne Na tion al Wildlife Refuge.
In the south ern and western portion of the state shown in the map below, the only legal fire arms for deer are shot guns using rifled slugs, muzzleloaders*, and handguns legal for big game.
