Heritage, the new offering from Eynsford Concert Band pays tribute to five contemporary British composers who have helped to shape the repertoire for symphonic wind ensembles in recent years. Each of these composers has contributed towards advancing this medium, one of the most popular amongst amateur musical groups in the United Kingdom, in the process giving countless musicians the chance to perform original and inspiring music.

The CD includes the world’s first recording of Heritage Suite (What Hope Saw) - our specially commissioned piece by Nigel Clarke. The other works featured are ‘Albion Heritage’ by Philip Sparke; ‘Paris Sketches’ by Martin Ellerby; ‘Thames Journey’ by Nigel Hess and ‘Yiddish Dances’ by Adam Gorb.

We were hoping that the CD would be ready for you to purchase during this concert. However, the production guys are perfectionists and insistent on getting it right.

The CD will cost £10 (plus £1.50 P&P).

To pre-order your copy, please leave your details with the team selling programmes and raffle tickets or send an email to [email protected].

We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed recording it!

O come, all ye faithful,Joyful and triumphant, O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem;Come and behold Him, Born the King of Angels

O come, let us adore Him,O come, let us adore Him,O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

God of God,Light of Light,Lo, he abhors not the Virgin’s womb;Very God, Begotten not created

O come…

See how the shepherds,Summoned to his cradle,Leaving their flocks, draw nigh with lowly fear;We too will thither Bend our joyful footsteps

O come…

Yea, Lord, we greet thee,Born this happy morning;Jesus, to thee be glory given!Word of the Father, Now in flesh appearing!

O come…

Sing, choirs of Angels,Sing in exultation,Sing, all ye citizens of heav’n above;Glory to God In the highest

O come…

A message from Paul

On behalf of John and everyone in the band, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our Christmas concert today, and to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

As you will read in our newsletter, we have had a busy and exciting year. Working closely with Nigel Clarke through the conception, realisation and first performance of a brand new piece has given the band a privileged insight to the amount of work that goes into such creations. As a result, the band has gained a far greater appreciation of all of the compositions we perform.

I am also pleased that through our various concerts, we have been able to raise over £3,500 for local charities this year and thank you all for your continued generosity and good will.

I am sure that next year will prove to be just as exciting as we look forward to our spring concert on 18th April and then to our trip to Brussels later in the year - not to mention our other regular concerts in between!

Finally, we are always looking for new and imaginative ideas for our performances. If you have suggestions regarding future programmes or music you would like us to perform, then please let me know. You can contact me by email at [email protected] or by phone on 07506 679015.

Many thanks and best wishes for a joyful Christmas,

Paul GouldChairman

O come, all ye faithful
