Academics

An all-time high 3.15 GPA for the spring semester (3.12 in the fall)

The Lobos have now reached a GPA of 3.11 or better for five straightsemesters, and at least a 3.00 for 15 of the past 16 terms.

Three academic all-americans - Simon Ejdemyr, Men’s Soccer; RomanMartinez, Men’s Basketball; Alexis Ball, Women’s Soccer

Eleven Academic All-District - Alexis Ball, Women’s Soccer; Justin Davis,Men’s Soccer; Simon Ejdemyr, Men’s Soccer; Jodi Ewart, Women’s Golf;Jael Fanning, Women’s Soccer; Roman Martinez, Men’s Basketball; LanceRozeboom Men’s Soccer; Katie Gilmore, Softball; Malin Hemmingsson,Skiing; Jessica Quador, Women’s Soccer; Amanda Collins, Women’s Soccer

Fundraising

3,861 individual and corporate contributors to the Lobo Club annualfund, with over 4,500 overall supporters including restricted gifts.

$6,581,007 raised in cash, gift-in-kind and major gift pledges to supportUNM Athletics.

$2,027,867 pledged by 290 gift-in-kind partners including localrestaurants, hotels, and various businesses.

More than 130 Ambassadors volunteered to increase contributions to theLobo Club during the annual Membership Drive, with new Drive records setfor cash pledges, members, and overall pledges.

Athletic Budget

86 percent of athletics budget is self-generated (Not from the universityor the state).

Ticket sales ($7.0 million), Advertising Sales ($4.8 million), Lobo ClubDonations for scholarships ($3.0 million), and Gift-in-kind ($1.7 million)make up a large majority of the self-Generated amount.

The 2009-2010 fiscal year ended with a balanced budget.

Baseball

Defeated #1 ranked University of Texas Longhorns in Austin, taking twoout of three games from the Longhorns and later from University ofSouthern California.

Finished 2nd in the MWC regular season with a final RPI of 50.

Earned an at-large NCAA bid, first time in tournament since 1962.

Four Lobos were named to the All-Mountain West Conference team – WillyKesler, Rafael Neda, Just Howard, and Chris Juarez.

Five Lobos were selected in the 2010 MLB Draft – Rafael Neda, WillyKesler, Kenny Toves, Justin Howard, and Ryan Honeycutt.

men’ s Basketball

Final record of 30-5, finishing 8th in the AP Poll and 17th in the ESPN/USAToday Coaches Poll.

Head coach Steve Alford was named a finalist for the Naismith Coach ofthe Year Award. Alford was named the Mountain West Conference Coach ofthe Year for the second year in a row.

Senior Roman Martinez was named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-AmericaSecond Team, the first Lobo to earn the honor since 1975. He was namedto the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI first team. Martinezadded the Chip Hilton Award on April 4.

Set a school record for wins in a season with 30.

Finished 22nd in the nation for attendance.

Women’ s Basketball

The New Mexico women’s basketball made their 13th consecutivepostseason appearance, advancing to the second round of the WNIT.

Senior Amy Beggin was named first team all-Mountain West Confrernce.Juniors Amanda Best and Jessica Kielpinski were named honorable mentionall-MWC.

Beggin was named one of 10 finalists for the 2009-10 Lowe’s SeniorCLASS Award.

The Lobos finished 9th in the country in attendance, averaging 7,090 fansper game.

Cross Country

The Lobo men’s cross country team finished tied for 8th at the 2009 NCAAChampionships, the best finish in program history.

Senior Jacob Kirwa placed 11th overall to earn All-America honors.

The Lobo women’s cross country team finished 12th at the 2009 NCAAChampionships, 12 spots above their seed and best finish at UNM in 28years.

Coach Joe Franklin was named Mountain West Conference men’s andwomen’s cross country coach of the year.

First-ever team sweep at the Mountain West Conference Championships.

Football

The Lobo football team wrapped up the 2009 season with five New Mexicoplayers earning All-Mountain West Conference recognition.

Sophomore linebacker Carmen Messina finished the season with a nation’sbest 162 tackles.

Sophomore defensive end Johnathan Rainey finished the season tied for aleague best 15.5 tackles for loss.

Men’ s golf

Tied for 10th at the NCAA West Regional.

John Caitlin received Mountain West Conference freshman of the yearhonors and was named to the First Team All-Mountain West.

Lobos brought home the 2010 Callaway Collegiate Match PlayChampionship, beating No. 6 Washington, No. 26 San Diego, No. 4 TexasA&M, and No. 13 USC.

women’ s Golf

Senior Jodi Ewart, the Mountain West Conference Female athlete of theyear, won a school-record five individual titles and lead New Mexico to itsthird straight Mountain West Conference women’s golf championship.

The Lobos finished tied for 16th at the NCAA Championships, the best theLobos have finished since 2004.

Finished the season ranked 17th in the nation.

skiing

The Lobo ski team placed 3rd at the 2010 NCAA National Championships inSteamboat Springs, Colo.

Malin Hemmingsson became the first Lobo to win three NCAA nationaltitles, all in women’s slalom.

Alpine coach Martin Kroisleitner was named the United States CollegiateSki Coaches Association and RMISA Coach of the Year.

The Lobos had 13 All-American performances collectively, tying for themost among all schools.

Men’ S Soccer

New Mexico advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the seventh time in thelast nine years, finishing with a 12-7-1 mark.

Seniors Justin Davis and Euan Holden were both selected in the 2010MLS Draft.

The team earned its seventh straight National Soccer Coaches Associationof America Team Academic award in 2009.

Senior Simon Ejdemyr named the 2009 ESPN the Magazine Men’s SoccerAcademic All-American of the Year.

The Lobos had seven members named to the Mountain Pacific SportsFederation men’s soccer all-conference teams.

Women’ S Soccer

The Lobos finish the season 13-5-3 overall and 4-3-0 in MWC play. Thethirteen wins in a single season was a career best for head coach Kit Vela.

Junior Alexis Ball became UNM’s first ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American in women’s soccer.

Three Lobos were named to the All-Mountain West Conference team –Jennifer Williams, Amanda Collins, and Alexis Ball.

Goalkeeper Kelli Cornell set single-season records with 13 shutouts anda 0.69 goals average.

Softball

Katie Gilmore was named ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District.

Cristin Anderson earned All-Mountain West Conference team honors.

The Lobos led the Mountain West Conference in stolen bases with 87.

Women’ s Swimming and Diving

Aubrey Bush was a diving conference champion, the Lobos first MountainWest Conference champion since 2005.

Four Lobo Divers competed at the NCAA Zones in Austin, Texas.

Three Lobos were named to the All-Mountain West Conference team –Aubrey Bush, Marissa Campbell, and Jocelyn Colella.

Men’ s Tennis

Jadon Phillips was named Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year.

Jadon Phillips, Ben Dunbar, and Carl Ho took home All-Mountain WestConference First Team honors for singles.

Jadon Phillips and Phil Andersen earmed All-Mountain West ConferenceDoubles Team honors.

Women’ s Tennis

Boasted the highest team GPA for UNM athletics.

A 3.79 team GPA is the best in Lobo women’s team history.

The Lobos had no seniors, two juniors, two sophomores and fourfreshmen.

Track and Field

The Lobos sent four team members to the NCAA National IndoorChampionships.

Lee Emanuel won back-to-back NCAA championships in the mile.

Lee Emanuel and Sandy Fortner earned Mountain West ConferenceStudent-Athlete of the Year honors; 15 Lobos earned All-Mountain WestConference honors for indoor.

Sent seven individual athletes to the NCAA Outdoor NationalChampionships.

The men placed second and the women placed fourth at the 2010 MountainWest Conference Championships.

Volleyball

The Lobos advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since1994.

Three Lobos were named to the All-Mountain West Conference team – JadeMichaelson, Taylor Hadfield, and Rose Morris.

9 Lobos earned Academic All-Mountain West Conference honors.

Had its second consecutive 20-win season.
