    Learning Resource Program

    The Learning Resource Program (LRP) hasbeen a hallmark of the St. Gregory theGreat school community for over 25 years.LRP includes a class and academic servicesdesigned to support the core curriculum.A team of specialists provides studentswith supplementary academic instruction,organizational skills, and individualizedtutoring.

    LRP ensures that modifications are providedaccording to the students IndividualizedEducation Program (IEP), content course-work, and in accordance with federal andstate laws. Modifications may include:test proctoring and lengthened time,personalized tutoring,alternate courseworkor content, and audio-visual supplementarymaterials.

    The Learning Resource Program impactsstudents by building self-esteem, fosteringpersonal responsibility, and promotingeducational independence leading tolifelong intellectual growth and success.

    Protg Program

    The Protg Internship Program was createdout of the desire to better prepare our studentsfor life after graduation. It is designed toengage students in experiences outside of theclassroom that will enrich their education andprovide them with critical career insights.As aProtg, students have the opportunity not onlyto learn about but also to participate in theresume, application,interview, hiring andemployment processes.

    Students in their junior year take the CareerPlanning course.After successful application,rising seniors meet with the program director tolearn about internship placements. During thefall of senior year, Protgs interview withemployers and secure their position. EachProtg is committed to work up to 15 hoursper week in place of afternoon elective courses.Protgs earn class credit and compensationtoward tuition assistance or college savings.

    We give personal attention to all of our students to learn how we can help them reachtheir dreams. Through our unique support programs we ensure a bright academic futurefor our students. We know that a great school resembles a caring family.

    Campus MinistryThe campus ministry team is firmlycommitted to helping students grow in theirawareness of Gods presence in the world.To this end, the campus ministry team offersa variety of spiritual opportunities groundedin the Roman Catholic tradition.

    As a means to celebrate and share our faith,Campus Ministry organizes prayer services,retreats, service-learning experiences,andregular celebration of the Eucharist.

    All faith traditions call us to greater loveand service of neighbor.As a Catholicschool, we welcome students of all faithbackgrounds who are committed to modelthe love of Christ.

    Christian Service

    Students at St. Gregory the Great areinstilled with deep compassion andconstantly reach out in service to theirneighbors. Each year students commit toactively serving the community throughvolunteer opportunities at churchorganizations and local agencies.

    Retreat ExperiencesBeginning as freshmen,each class takespart in a special retreat designed to bringthem together as a community and helpthem explore their own faith.Along withthe campus ministry team, student leadershave the opportunity to guide reflectionsand facilitate prayer.An overnight retreatallows students to examine their spirituality,relationships, and identity.

    and all students commit to perform 70 hours of

    Our indoor sports programs are housed inthe Monsignor Klasen MemorialGymnasium. This facility is outfitted with aregulation-size basketball court and aFitness Center dedicated to health andwellness instruction. Outdoor sports enjoy

    competition at athletic fields on the shoresof Lake Michigan.

    In order to protect students individualeligibility, schools of the Archdiocese ofChicago support the policies of the IllinoisHigh School Association. In doing so,St. Gregory the Great High School may notpromise or offer athletic scholarships ofany kind. Violations may result in loss ofeligibility for student, coach, and/or school.

    Over 50% of our students participate in at

    least one athletic program and many are

    recognized at the city and state level.

    Greyhound athletes showcase their talents all year long in the gymnasium and on theball field. Being active in sports instills in students a commitment to wellness and developsessential leadership skills. We know that preparation and teamwork are values that willlead to future success.

On the day of theexam, packets of information will be distrib-uted that include an application form andother necessary materials. Please contact theAdmissions Office if you qualify for extendedtime. Please note:students taking theentrance exam at St.Gregory the Great willbe given first priority for enrollment.

    Submit Financial Aid Application:Every student will receive a financial aidapplication on the day of the entrance exam.Families that submit their completed aidapplication by February 1,2009 will receive

    notification of their tentative award prior toregistration in early March.

    Receive Notification of Acceptance:Letters will be mailed home on February 13,2009

    Incoming Freshmen Registration:Wednesday, March 4, 6:00-8:00pmThursday, March 5, 6:00-8:00pm

    Each evening, incoming freshmen and theirfamilies meet with faculty members to discussfreshman-year courses and student life at

    St. Gregory the Great.

    Transfer StudentsSt. Gregory the Great does accept a limitednumber of transfer applications.All transferapplicants must have a formal interview withthe admissions committee, following anexamination of past academic and behavioralrecords.

    TuitionTuition for the 2008-2009 school year is$7,100. There is an additional fee for studentsenrolling in the Learning Resource Program.

    Tuition Assistance ProgramSt. Gregory the Great offers a TuitionAssistance Program to ensure that anexcellent Catholic education is accessible andaffordable. There are various scholarships andgrants available to all students. All awardsare granted through an application processand determined on a case-by-case basis.Nearly 50% of the student populationreceived tuition assistance in the 2007-2008school year.
