The televisionindustry is now producing LCD integrated sound HDTVs or plasma integrated sound HDTVs; however,most all of our schools have inventories of CRT TVs. Level 4: Presentation System using LCD projector and Interactive Wireless Tablet(s)Enables projection of image/text from a computer to an LCD data projector on wall screen with teacher and multiple student interactivitycapabilities using wireless interactive tablet(s). The usage lifetime of a data projection lamp is 2,000 hrs and the average cost per lamp$400.00. Both the image quality and text are better than the Level 1 or 2 options because the image size spans the size of either aclassroom or auditorium size wall screen. Installation Procedures for LCD/DLP Data Projection andInteractive Whiteboard Equipment

When making purchases for LCD/DLP data projectors and interactive whiteboards, school staff shall use the Office ofPurchasing Audiovisual Equipment online catalog to make selections. The catalog is available using your login on the BCPIntranet at https://intranet.bcps.org/default.aspx. The pathway to the Audiovisual Catalog is: (1) "Online Catalogs" from themenu bar on the right side; "Catalogs" on the left menu bar; (3) BCPS Online Curriculum Catalogs; (4) "Catalog" on the leftmenu bar; (5) "Audiovisual Equipment" on the left menu bar.Purchase Order Preparation

OPTION 1If your intent is use the LCD/DLP data projector on a cart or desk or the interactive whiteboard located oa mobile stand: Prepare a BCPS Purchase Requisition and note on the PR: No installation is required. Equipment wilbe used on a cart or mobile stand.

OR

OPTION 2If your intent is to have the LCD/DLP data projector or interactive whiteboard installed in locationsinvolving mounting on a ceiling, wall, over a chalkboard, or a floor:

Prepare a BCPS Purchase Requisition to the approved vendors (See below.) and note on the PR: Installationrequired and the designated room(s). The Department of Purchasing will notify the Department of PhysicalFacilities in order to comply with environmental, safety, electrical codes and networking requirements. Testingand/or installation costs associated with environmental, electrical, and security requirements will be the responsibiliof the requesting party. These costs are NOT included in the actual installation costs for the equipment. Uponsubmission of the PR, the following actions will occur: Environmental Services will be notified in order to conduct an environmental survey for asbestos or lead

containing materials. It should be noted that no installation(s) can be approved prior to environmentalclearance. When an inspection reveals a problem with hazardous materials, Environmental Services willwork with the school to find alternatives to their installation approach. If there are no alternatives to theproposed installation locations, only a specially licensed contractor can be used to abate the area.

NOTE: While the costs for sampling and testing are usually covered by Environmental Services, in difficultcases the test itself can cost up to $750.00. If no other possible location can be used to avoid an identifiedhazardous area, then installation costs can run up to another $1000.00 for specialized abatement andinstallation procedures.

Safety and Security will be notified to assess positioning of the projector to avoid interference with the firesuppression system, assure proper mounting, and identify other safety considerations.

Electrical Services will be notified in order to conduct an electrical survey to determine if there is sufficientpower to support the units that are to be installed. Costs associated with electrical supply will be theresponsibility of the requesting party. All electrical upgrades and connections must meet all applicablebuilding/electrical codes. Use of extension cords DOES NOT meet code. Upon completion of electricalinstallation, the Department of Technology will be notified to install networking cabling.
