This year, 2007, marks the150th Anniversary of theestablishment of the County ofUnion. In 1857, the land thatwas roughly the area of theoriginal Elizabethtown, became the last NewJersey county to be formed.
This booklet, Special Events of Four Centuriesin a Weekend 2007, describes the uniquefashion in which this significant anniversary is
being celebrated.
The booklet lists the talented performing artists,musicians and speakers who are adding theirown special dimension to the Weekend.
Look to see where storytellers, performers, re-
enactors, historians and musicians are located.Some are performing at specific times andothers are available to speak with visitorsthroughout both afternoons.

Saturday afternoon,a Zouave Civil
War re-enactor talks with visitors.On Bothdays hear a talk about
"Two Henrys," Henry J. Phillips andHenry Vanderver. The discussionoffers the contrast between white and black soldiers during the
Civil War. A black soldier re-enactor from the 22nd UnitedStates Colored Troops describes his war experiences.
BOXWOOD HALL STATEHISTORIC SITE

Meet a soldier from the Mexican-American War (1846-1848). Chris
Keenan portrays a Quarter MasterSergeant of the 4th US on both days.

Anniversary of the Borough of Kenilworth. Guidesdressed in 1900s clothing will interpret local historical

century women - a repertoire that illustrates
their struggles, triumphs and privatethoughts, emphasizing New Jersey women.

days. At 11:45 and 1:45 re-enactorsof the 6th Regiment United StatesColored Troops tell the story of courageous African
Americans who fought in the Civil War. At 1:00 and 3:00,Harold Scheidegger conducts tours of the cemetery.

of the Weekend. They're talking
with visitors about 18th century uniforms, equipment andweapons. New recruits are joining the soldiers in a
training drill.

Enjoy the wonderful sound of the Presidents
Men between 12:30 and 3:30 on both Saturday and
Sunday. The a cappella quartet performs popular andtraditional music as well as novelty tunes - all in the f our-
part harmony style known as barbershop.

cutting on both afternoons. She's relating the history ofthis art form that goes back to Colonial America.Silhouettes of many visitors are being created.
