BURG0209/1 February 2009 AN OPENING OFFER OF 2007 Red and White Burgundy A classic vintage A classic vintage After a number of warm and ripe to very ripe vintages such as 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2006, 2007 sees a return to a classic style of Burgundy. By ‘classic’ I mean a vintage where ripeness is achieved between 12% and 13% potential alcohol, increasingly rare with global warming, producing wines with intense aromas, not burned off by the heat, and with a refreshing palate which is ripe yet invigorating. However, as usual in Burgundy, there is a wide stylistic variation from producer to producer. We suggest you read the specific notes on each supplier which will give you a more accurate description of how the wine tastes than a broad generalisation. The quality hierarchy is well respected in 2007. We encourage you to trade up and buy the best you can afford. The extra depth and concentration achieved at premier and grand cru levels is well worth the price premium. Strict selection The cool and challenging conditions meant that only the conscientious growers, who carefully manage their vineyards and whose yields were low, produced the healthy and ripe grapes necessary for successful, balanced wines in 2007. We have cut back the number of wines we bought by about a third compared to last year. The wines and producers that remain are what we consider to be la crème de la crème. AN OPENING OFFER OF

2007 Red and White Burgundy

A classic vintage

A classic vintage After a number of warm and ripe to very ripe vintages such as 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2006, 2007 sees a return to a classic style of Burgundy. By ‘classic’ I mean a vintage where ripeness is achieved between 12% and 13% potentialalcohol, increasingly rare with global warming, producing wines with intense aromas, not burned off by the heat, and with a refreshing palate which is ripe yet invigorating.

Strict selection The cool and challenging conditions meant that only the conscientious growers, who carefully manage their vineyardsand whose yields were low, produced the healthy and ripe grapes necessary for successful, balanced wines in 2007.We have cut back the number of wines we bought by about a third compared to last year. The wines and producersthat remain are what we consider to be la crème de la crème.

MACONNAIS

The Mâconnais wines are very successful in 2007. Produced from warmer vineyards to the south of theCôte d’Or, but in a cooler vintage than normal, they have a lovely balance of ripe fruit but with greaterfreshness and lift than normal.

Château des Rontets, Pouilly-Fuissé 2007 produced elegant wines with fresh acidity and moderate alcohol (12.5-13.5%) from below averageyields of 41 hectolitres per hectare (hl/ha). The style of the year combined with the north-facing aspect of the vineyards has produced a supremely elegant style of Pouilly-Fuissé.

1. BU43211 Pouilly-Fuissé Clos Varambon £85 -From a vineyard originally planted between 1950 and 1960, the fine and elegant wine it produces is aged in foudres (large wooden casks) and old barrels so it is not overpowered by oak. 2010–2012.

2. BU43221 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Birbettes £115 -The Birbettes vineyard, planted between 1910 and 1920, makes the property’s greatest wine. It has old-vine concentration and a lovely tension between richness and elegance. 2011–2013.

Domaine Saint Denis, LugnyThe combination of Maçon’s southern latitudes and a cool vintage has produced a rich but lemon freshwine here of an unusual but ravishing character.

3. BU43571 Mâcon-Chardonnay * - £105Exceptional wine with an intense citrus-scented nose and a vibrant yet full palate. Impressive. 2010–2012.

The weather: a superb SeptemberThe year started well with one of the hottest Aprils for 20 years (averaging 28ºC in the Côte de Beaune) producing a flowering that was two to three weeks early, presaging another August harvest. But June, July and August were coolwith about twice as much rain as usual.

Superb weather from the 24th August to the end of September changed everything. It was considerably sunnier anddrier than normal, and the north wind blew, evaporating the water in the grapes, preventing the spread of disease andconcentrating the flavours. A few growers reported a little bit of rot in the pinot noir from the lower, wetter vineyards.Such grapes simply do not go into the vats and pose no problems. Many producers are now equipped with sortingtables which makes this an easy, if time consuming, task.

Unusually the red grapes were picked before the whites, starting at the end of August. In the white grapes, full flavourmaturity lagged behind potential alcohol and the best growers tasted their grapes to gauge the true maturity and waited to harvest. With hindsight, the later-picked white wines proved the most successful in 2007.

Domaine de la Soufrandise, Pouilly-FuisséAnother highly successful 2007 Pouilly-Fuissé was produced here. The rich style produced by Domaine de la Soufrandise is nicely offset by the freshness of the vintage.

4. BU43321 Pouilly-Fuissé Vieilles Vignes * - £150Well-balanced Pouilly-Fuissé. A third is barrel fermented for richness while the remaining tank-fermented portion contributes freshness. 2010–2011.

COTE D’OR

Comte Armand, Domaine des Epeneaux, PommardIn Benjamin Leroux’s hands this has become a rich and powerful wine with no dryness. It is one of the bestred wines not only of Pommard but of the Côte de Beaune.

5. BU43901 Pommard Premier Cru Clos des Epeneaux £260 -Tiny yields of 23hl/ha due to poor flowering have resulted in a fine and concentrated wine that needs time but will be excellent. 2012–2018.

Domaine Denis Bachelet, Gevrey-Chambertin 2007 is quite superb here and even better than the lovely 2006 vintage. The wines are ripe, round and sensuous.

6. BU43961 Côtes de Nuits Villages £98 -Soft and pretty with a remarkably fine texture for a wine of this price. 2010–2015.

7. BU43971 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes £165 -Rich, ripe and plummy with a lovely velvety mouthfeel. 2010–2016.

8. BU43981 Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru Corbeaux Vieilles Vignes £248 -Still tasting very fresh and fine due to a late malolactic fermentation, this will sweeten up to become a ripe and elegant wine. 2010–2016.

Ghislaine Barthod Henri Boillot

Page 4

Domaine Ghislaine Barthod, Chambolle-MusignyLovely silky Chambolles here as always. There was a little bit of sorting required in the grapes for the villagewine but the others were healthy.

9. BU43401 Chambolle-Musigny £148Premier cru Combottes was declassified into this village wine. Ripe fruit yet with fresh and intense pinot aromas of red cherries. 2010–2014.

10. BU43411 Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru Beaux Bruns £248One of the fleshiest Chambolles, this is gently rounded on the palate. 2011–2016.

11. BU43421 Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru Cras £253Cras is initially austere and even mineral in character, but blossoms with time into one of the most perfumed and fine textured of all Chambolles. 2011–2017.

Domaine Henri Boillot, VolnayHenri Boillot is making superb Puligny at present. The natural old-vine concentration of Clos de laMouchère leavened with the freshness of the 2007 vintage makes for an outstanding wine. It was one of the best 2007 Pulignys I tasted.

12. BU43101 Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Perrières, Clos de la Mouchère £275Made from 80-year-old vines planted on low-vigour rootstock this is concentrated yet fine and elegant. 2011–2016.

Domaine Bonneau du Martray, Pernand-VergelessesMade from a mature vineyard averaging 45 years of age, exposed west-south-west, which captures the cooler evening sun, this classic example of the cru is a wine more of light than heat.

13. BU43091 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru £318Superlative, steely Corton-Charlemagne made from yields of 40 hl/ha. 2012–2019.

Domaine Alain Burguet, Gevrey-ChambertinAlain Burguet’s style is becoming ever more refined and is partly due to the rigorous selection his sortingtable allows. Any partially ripe fruit, or any grapes with the slightest spot of rot, are eliminated, so only thebest grapes are allowed into the vat. The resulting wine is rounder and purer than previously.

14. BU43911 Gevrey-Chambertin Mes Favorites Vieilles Vignes £198Ripe, full but gentle Gevrey with a soothing, silky texture. 2010–2015.

Page 5

Domaine Camus-Bruchon, Savigny-lès-Beaune Luc Camus has made scintillating 2007s which offer excellent value for money. These are shot through withan invigorating freshness and vivacity. He has a remarkable array of old vines and he keeps yields moderate.42 hl/ha in 2007.

15. BU43231 Savigny-lès-Beaune Pimientiers £80From vineyards planted in 1935, this is a pretty red-fruit pinot. 2010–2012.

16. BU43241 Savigny-lès-Beaune Aux Grands Liards Vieilles Vignes * £88From two parcels of vines planted in 1913 and 1922, this has lovely sweet fruit underpinned by freshness and with good length of flavour. 2010–2012.

17. BU43251 Savigny-lès-Beaune Premier Cru Gravains £88Planted in 1971, this is ripe but a little firmer with more structure than Grands Liards. 2010–2013.

18. BU43261 Savigny-lès-Beaune Premier Cru Lavières £88Very complete and balanced Savigny, intensely aromatic with a lovely sweet palate and a long and clean finish. 2010–2013.

19. BU43271 Savigny-lès-Beaune Premier Cru Narbontons £98Rounder, richer and more Beaune-like than most Savignys, this has additional density and weight. 2010–2014.

Domaine Sylvain Cathiard, Vosne-RomanéeSylvain Cathiard makes ethereal wines with haunting aromas and caressing velvety palates. He has becomevery sought after. Yields were down 30% in 2007 so quantities are small.

20. BU44001 Vosne-Romanée £198Bright, lively aromas and a sweet and gentle palate. 2010–2015.

21. BU44011 Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru En Orveaux £338Lovely cherry-kernel aroma and soft and round palate. 2010–2016.

22. BU44021 Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru En Reignots £360This well-placed vineyard, immediately above La Romanée, has produced a round, sweet and sensual 2007. 2010–2017.

23. BU44031 Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru Malconsorts £498This great vineyard borders La Tâche. It is soft and alluring with a kernel of intense, kirsch-scented fruit at its core. 2010–2018.

Domaine Robert Chevillon, Nuits-St-GeorgesIn the more difficult years, the best growers’ vineyards are much more resistant to disease than themediocre, and they seem to sail through without problems. Apart from a tiny bit of rot in the lower lyingvineyards all was well here, and you can taste it in the wines. These are a lovely series of wines of very highquality and are warmly recommended. Chevillon makes sweet and round wines with none of the aggressivetannins that can mar some of the wines of Nuits.

24. BU43121 Nuits-St-Georges Vieilles Vignes * £120 -Sweet, soft, strawberry-like fruit makes this most appealing. 2010–2013.

25. BU43131 Nuits-St-Georges Premier Cru Roncières £160 -Pretty, fine-boned Nuits with impressive length and depth. 2011–2015.

26. BU43141 Nuits-St-Georges Premier Cru Pruliers £160 -Pruliers marks a step up in the hierarchy. This is denser, firmer and more serious. Impressive. 2012–2016.

27. BU43151 Nuits-St-Georges Premier Cru Cailles £198 -Exquisite Nuits of great intensity and sensuality. It is very gentle yet remarkably persistent in the mouth. A beauty. 2011–2017.

28. BU43161 Nuits-St-Georges Premier Cru Vaucrains £198 -More closed and more structured: this has a brooding, serious nature. It needs time to show its mettle but will be superb. 2011–2017.

Domaine Coche-Bizouard, MeursaultAlain Coche is as little known as his cousin Jean-François of Coche-Dury is famous. This quietly impressivedomaine makes proper Meursault from low yields, and you can taste the concentration in the wines. Alain’sson Fabien is now in charge of the day-to-day running of the domaine.

29. BU43281 Meursault Rouge £80 -Small but perfectly formed, this sweet and pretty little wine shows off pinot’s wonderful aromatic complexity. Enjoy in the exuberance of its youth. 2010–2011.

30. BU43291 Bourgogne Chardonnay * - £110This year 100% was barrel fermented (it is usually just 50%) to layer an extra level of richness over the fresh and vivid 2007 fruit. A far cry from basic Bourgogne at a rock bottom price. 2010–2013.

31. BU43301 Meursault £120 -Rich and structured Meursault made to blossom and unfold with a little bottle age. 2011–2014.

32. BU43311 Meursault L’Ormeau £125 -Powerful, broad-shouldered Meursault with the structure and grip to stand up to rich dishes of grilled lobster or crab gratin. 2011–2014.

Philippe Colin, Chassagne-MontrachetMichel Colin-Deléger’s estate has been split between his two sons Philippe and Bruno. Philippe makes light-framed, elegant wines in both colours equally well. He is part domaine and part négociant. The Gravières is from the domaine.

33. BU43601 Santenay Premier Cru Gravières * £98 -Graceful, light-framed, delicate Santenay from one of its greatest vineyards. Joyous. 2010–2012.

Domaine Drouhin-Laroze, Gevrey-ChambertinDrouhin-Laroze has large holdings of some top vineyards. Quality has shot upwards since Philippe tookover from his father and the wines are offered at very reasonable prices.

34. BU43741 Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru Lavaux St Jacques £188Sweet fruit yet fresh and vibrant palate, exhibiting lovely red-cherry pinot fruit. 2011–2015.

35. BU43751 Latricières Chambertin Grand Cru £288A step up from the premiers crus this has more of everything. 2011–2017.

36. BU43761 Bonnes Mares Grand Cru £325Big powerful Bonnes Mares with fruit and structure in pleasing harmony. 2012–2017.

37. BU43771 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru £348Top class wine. Effortlessly graceful, this has silky tannins and great length of flavour. 2014–2020.

Jean Philippe Fichet, Meursault Like many in 2007, Jean-Philippe started his harvest with the white grapes, but then decided to wait. Hethen picked his red grapes before finishing the whites at the end. Flavour-maturity came later than expectedand the wines picked towards the end have the best balance. This is another good vintage from this highlymotivated man.

38. BU44091 Bourgogne Blanc Vieilles Vignes £75Taut, mineral wine with a hint of honey. 2010–2012.

39. BU44101 Meursault Meix Sous le Château £165Ripe and rich but well supported by a structured palate. 2010–2013.

Domaine Fourrier, Gevrey-ChambertinJean-Marie Fourrier had little or no rot and plenty of photosynthesizing leaves (some growers had lostleaves to mildew) and he was able to pick a little later than most, from 9th to 15th September. He has been rewarded with deliciously succulent, generous wines. These are what the French call gourmands – decadently moreish.

41. BU44041 Morey-St-Denis Clos Salon £120Soft, round and fruity. Delightful. 2010–2015.

42. BU44051 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes £143Sweet fruit beautifully balanced by an appealing freshness. 2010–2015.

43. BU44061 Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru Goulots £225Full and sumptuous palate with a caressing texture. 2011–2016.

44. BU44071 Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru Combes £238aux MoinesLovely black-cherry fruit, aromas of kirsch, ripe and refined palate. 2011–2016.

45. BU44081 Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru £375Clos St JacquesThis has an extra touch of class, an even silkier texture and a finer flavoured palate than the other premiers crus. 2011–2018.

Domaine Jean-Noël Gagnard, Chassagne-MontrachetJean-Noël Gagnard’s daughter Caroline Lestimé has been making the wine here since 1989. I think she produces the finest wines in Chassagne. They rival, and sometimes surpass, the best Pulignys. They are elegant but not austere due to an intriguing texture which contributes impressive depth of flavour withoutdiminishing the remarkable refinement. She picked between 4th and 7th September at attractive levels ofripeness. Her 2007s are very successful.

46. BU43061 Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Clos de la Maltroie £188Fine, elegant but with a subtle creaminess; this is beautifully balanced. 2011–2015.

47. BU43071 Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Chaumées £188Pretty, delicate wine with impressive length of flavour. 2011–2015.

48. BU43081 Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Caillerets £260Caillerets is Chassagne’s greatest premier cru with a refinement and class that sets it apart from the rest. 2011–2018.

Domaine Jean Grivot, Vosne-RomanéeEtienne Grivot has made lovely ripe yet fresh-tasting wines with attractive mid-palate and texture. The quality has moved up to the top rank recently. These refined, polished wines are highly recommended.

49. BU43501 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru £355Ripe and rich, this has a sensual, creamy texture underpinned by the structure for ageing. 2012–2020.

Domaine Antoine et François Jobard, MeursaultThe Jobard style is for elegant, linear wines which are austere when young, more appley than buttery, but long lived. They evolve slowly, developing with time an ever more honeyed complexity. They began the harvest on 3rd September.

51. BU43921 Bourgogne Blanc £83Fresh, crisp and racy. 2011–2014.

52. BU43931 Meursault en la Barre £165Elegant, vivid, understated Meursault. 2012–2016.

54. BU43951 Meursault Premier Cru Poruzots £248Fine, impressive wine with true premier cru length of flavour. 2012–2017.

Domaine François Lamarche, Vosne-RomanéeThe new generation, Nicole in the cellar and Nathalie on the commercial side, is taking over here and has made a statement of intent with the 2007 vintage with very low yields and notably powerful and concentrated wines.

55. BU43381 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru £298Big, rich, powerful wine yet with a satiny texture. 2013–2017.

56. BU43391 La Grande Rue Grand Cru £625Ideally placed between Romanée-Conti and La Tâche, this wine is one of the summits of Burgundy. Presently rich, dense and powerful this has the structure to develop and improve for many years. 2013–2020.

Domaine Leflaive, Puligny-MontrachetProducing some of Burgundy’s greatest white wines, Domaine Leflaive made lovely 2007s. Quality faithfullyfollows the hierarchy, improving markedly as one moves up through the ranks.

65. BU43541 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru £348 -Sweet, ripe and concentrated, this delivers the class one demands from a grand cru. 2011–2020.

Domaine De Montille, VolnayEtienne de Montille has made wonderful 2007s which are ripe yet have an energetic vitality about them. The Taillepieds and Rugiens are especially intense and rival the quality of the superb 2005s, but with greaterfreshness.

66. BU43331 Beaune Premier Cru Sizies £133 -A lovely example of the sweet, round and pretty style that characterises the best Beaunes. 2010–2014.

67. BU43341 Volnay Premier Cru Champans £248 -Elegant, almost floral nose and gentle palate. 2012–2018.

68. BU43351 Volnay Premier Cru Taillepieds £250 -Undeniably classy, there is an energy and vitality that is invigorating to taste. Long finish. 2012–2023

69. BU43361 Pommard Premier Cru Rugiens £310 -Vibrant wine showing great intensity of flavour and a satiny texture which is more Volnay than Pommard. Very impressive. 2012–2023.

70. BU43371 Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Cailleret £360 -Forming the northern boundary with Le Montrachet, this has a richness and depth of flavour rarely achieved by a premier cru. 2010–2013.

Domaine Pierre Morey, MeursaultPierre Morey makes fine, understated Meuraults without the buttery opulence often associated with theappellation. They develop slowly, opening up and evolving a subtle, honeyed richness with bottle age. The estate has been biodynamic since 2001.

71. BU43621 Bourgogne Chardonnay * - £130Tight and fresh Bourgogne which will soften and round out with a little bottle age. 2011–2013.

72. BU43631 Meursault £198 -Good impression of ripe fruit underpinned by a structured palate, this will develop well with time. 2011–2015.

73. BU43641 Meursault Tessons £225 -Lovely hillside vineyard, showing more concentration and ripeness than the flatter sites. 2011–2014.

74. BU43651 Meursault Premier Cru Perrières £375 -Ripe, generous and open texture. This has the extra substance of a top premier cru. 2011–2015.

Domaine Denis Mortet, Gevrey-ChambertinArnaud is his own man and is not afraid to make changes. Basing the wines on his father’s sound viticulturehe is reducing the extraction and new oak in the cellar and making wines with a lovely balance of richnesstempered by freshness.

75. BU43661 Bourgogne Cuvée de Noble Souche £98 -Impressive Bourgogne tasting like a baby Gevrey. 2010–2012.

76. BU43671 Marsannay Longeroies £143 -Unusually rich and creamy texture for this appellation which is more often slighter of build than this is. A notable success. 2011–2016.

77. BU43681 Gevrey-Chambertin £238 -Lovely balanced Gevrey offering a very high level of quality for a village wine. 2010–2017.

78. BU43691 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes £265 -Made from vines over 60 years of age, this has an impressive intensity of flavour and old-vine texture. 2011–2016.

79. BU43711 Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru Lavaux St Jacques £425 -Well-proportioned wine, rich yet fine, with considerable structure. This needs time for the tannic husk to fall away, revealing the rich kernel of fruit it contains. 2012–2018.

80. BU43721 Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru Beaux Bruns £425 -With greater Chambolle elegance than previously, this has more length than breadth, better respecting the style of the appellation than previously. 2012–2017.

81. BU43701 Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru Champeaux £425 -Impressive premier cru with fruit and structure in pleasing harmony. 2012–2017.

82. BU43731 Bourgogne Blanc £75 -Generous white Burgundy with the scent of white peaches. Drink in its youthful prime. 2010–2011.

Nicolas Potel, Nuits-St-GeorgesThis is a very attractive generic Burgundy that I actually preferred to Nicolas’ more expensive Hautes-Côtesde Nuits bottling. This remains of course a modest wine but very good for its type.

83. BU43111 Bourgogne Rouge Vieilles Vignes Cuvée Gérard Potel * - £79Modest but delicious red Burgundy is very difficult to make, but we think this is a praiseworthy success. It contains wines from Nicolas’s own vines in the lieu dit Maison Dieu together with, amongst other things, declassified Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, Maranges and Chorey-lès-Beaune. 2010–2012.

Domaine Henri Prudhon, St AubinLovely family domaine; grandfather Henri has passed the domaine to Gérard, mayor of St Aubin, who in turn, is now handing over to his children, winemaker Philippe and salesman Vincent. Low yields and a sensible approach to pricing make this a beacon of good sense and delicious wines.

84. BU43461 St Aubin Premier Cru Meurgers Dents de Chien £85 -High-quality vineyard on the other side of the hill from Le Montrachet, offering classy little wines at a more than a fair price. 2010–2012.

85. BU43471 St Aubin Premier Cru Perrières £85 -Fresh, appley wine with a concentrated palate. Excellent. 2010–2011.

Domaine du Château de Puligny-Montrachet, Puligny-MontrachetManaged by Etienne de Montille the quality has risen here since he took over in 2002. This is the best vintage he has made so far.

86. BU44121 St Aubin Premier Cru En Remilly £120 -Top-quality St Aubin with the finesse of a Puligny. 2010–2013.

87. BU44131 Puligny-Montrachet £165Few village Pulignys show this concentration whilst preserving such finesse. 2010–2013.

88. BU44141 Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Folatières £275Racy, scintillating Puligny from one of its best hillside premiers crus. 2010–2013.

Domaine Georges Roumier, Chambolle-MusignyChristophe Roumier prefers his 2007s to his 2006s, finding them richer and rounder. I concur.

89. BU43781 Chambolle-Musigny £155Ripe and generous Chambolle with good depth of fruit for a villagewine. 2011–2014.

90. BU43791 Morey St Denis Premier Cru Clos de la Bussière £193This is always a structured wine but it is cloaked by richly textured pinot fruit in 2007. 2011–2015.

91. BU43801 Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru Cras £265Les Cras is an understated wine in its youth which grows in stature with maturity to become one of the best premiers crus of Chambolle. 2011–2016.

92. BU43811 Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru Amoureuses £625Sensational velvety texture which caresses the mouth, this is a great success. 2013–2018.

93. BU43821 Bonnes Mares Grand Cru £725Again this too has a lovely texture but it conceals a powerful structure which will allow this grand cru to develop into an ever more complex wine with time. 2013–2020.

Etienne Sauzet, Puligny-MontrachetThis is a fine range from Sauzet. The character of each cru is well defined, showing the transparency of the vintage and the winemaking.

94. BU43831 Chassagne-Montrachet £155Made from a top vineyard bordering grand cru Bâtard Montrachet, Enceignères produces superior village Chassagne. 2010–2013.

95. BU43841 Puligny-Montrachet * £165Balanced, representative assemblage of Puligny made from nine different parcels of vines. 2010–2013.

96. BU43851 Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru La Garenne * £240Lightly honeyed wine which finishes cleanly and moreishly. 2010–2013.

97. BU43861 Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Referts * £255Lower placed vineyard producing broad and full wine for Puligny. Rich and full. 2011–2013.

98. BU43881 Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Champ Canet * £298Underrated vineyard producing outstanding Puligny, which is generous but structured. 2011–2014.

99. BU43871 Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Folatières * £298With bright, crystalline fruit, this is one of Puligny’s most sought after premiers crus. 2011–2013.

100. BU43891 Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Combettes * £395Combettes is Sauzet’s greatest premier cru, perfectly positioned mid slope it harmoniously combines richness and elegance. 2011–2014.

Domaine Tollot-Beaut, Chorey-lès-BeauneThe Tollot family are dedicated vignerons, working hard in the vineyards to do that most difficult of all things; produce generous wines from modest crus at attractive prices.

101. BU43581 Chorey-lès-Beaune * £75Lovely junior Burgundy in a generous and approachable style. 2010–2013.

102. BU43591 Savigny-lès-Beaune Premier Cru Lavières * £98One of the most appealing Savignys of all: sweet and round. 2010–2014.

Jean-Marc Vincent, SantenayJean-Marc and his wife Anne-Marie run their small domaine and négociant business with care and passion. The wines below come from their own vines. Jean-Marc is permanently finding better ways of managingthe vineyard. His balanced vineyards produce low yields of concentrated grapes. Reds and whites are equallygood. This is a fine source of excellent value for money wines. He judged the date of harvest well in 2007,picking the reds 26th to 28th August and waiting until 7th to 10th September to collect the white grapes.

103. BU43191 Santenay Rouge Premier Cru Beaurepaire £98Pretty, fine-flavoured Santenay from low yields of just 35hl/ha. 2011–2014.

104. BU43171 Santenay Rouge Premier Cru Gravières * £98Serious and slightly closed at present but with lots of potential, this will develop beautifully if kept. 2011–2014.

105. BU43181 Santenay Rouge Premier Cru Passetemps £98Offering bright pinot fruit with a silky textured palate, this is delicious. 2011–2014.

106. BU43201 Auxey-Duresses Les Hautés £88Lovely degree of flavour ripeness supported by fresh acidity, this is a star. 2010–2012.
