"Dr"Dr"Dr"Dr"Dr. G's Playbook". G's Playbook". G's Playbook". G's Playbook". G's Playbook" was designed to help teams, coaches and players run asmarter, more efficient flag football team without the stress and headache of de-signing playbooks day to day.
There are several unique flag football formations provided in this book- totaling justover 70 plays to help improve your teams offense. Each player has a specificcolor and route/assignment associated with their position to help your team betterunderstand their assignment.
In the interest of making this a better playbook, we have a contest each month forthe 3 best plays submitted. We are interested in 7-on-7 and 8-on-8 flag footballplays (even defensive plays). The top 3 plays submitted each month, will be eli-gible for a full refund of this play book. Fax your best flag play to 801-459-8098.
Preparation is the key to success in football at any level. If I had to choose, I'dtake preparation over athleticism any day of the week. I've played on andcoached many teams- I still do. My experience has shown that a prepared team, with a little execution and chemistry, is much better than an athletic team thatplays "sandlot" with no real plan at all.
Let this serve as a guide to a winning season. Mix and match your own schemeswith our strategies. We hope you find "Dr. G's playbook" to be as simple and use-ful, as many of our customers do.
Good luck!

Tips for using this Playbook:
Following the ball:Following the ball:Following the ball:Following the ball:Following the ball:In the case of play action or fake hand offs, we have placed a little football in the route to allow you tofollow the ball. A small “f” means fake, ie: fake handoff or play action.
Delay routesDelay routesDelay routesDelay routesDelay routes (block then go):::::On offense, we have added a little blocking sign, which denotes a delay route. For example a centermay briefly block a rushing defense men, then go out for a pass in the flats:
A dotted line is used for man in motion and a red dotted line is a pass (usually behind the line of scrimmage).
Route tree:Route tree:Route tree:Route tree:Route tree:The Route Tree is the backbone of the offense. Players that take the time to memorize the route treewill substantially increase the performance of your offense. The route tree is the basis for the hurry upoffense, as well as audible calling from the line. Learn the tree!
When the QB calls the play, he will always name the formation first, then read a series of numbers fromleft to right. Each number will correspond with the route assigned for each receiver. The QB will firstname the routes for receivers on the line, then assign any routes for the HB or Line men.

YYYYYou might consider calling plays using the route tree as follows:ou might consider calling plays using the route tree as follows:ou might consider calling plays using the route tree as follows:ou might consider calling plays using the route tree as follows:ou might consider calling plays using the route tree as follows:Read routes from left to right calling the receivers on the line first, followed by the running back, thencenter (if the center is eligible). If center is eligible, call his play with the letter C, then route #, then adirection, L or R (left of right). To avoid confusion on the center, give them a direction (L or R) after theirnumber is called. Otherwise, since he is the "center" of the field a "4" could mean two different patterns.A 4R however, would denote a 12 yard out to the right side line.
Split formation, Wing Back right 134-C6r. W1 runs a "1" (soft slant), W2 runs a "3" (quick slant), HB runs a"4" (10 and out) and center runs a "6" to the right side line. The second example below is Split formation,04C2R. Remember, the order of route calling is left to right, the receivers on the are called first, then hb(or slot), then center.
Audibles and Hurry Up OffenseAudibles and Hurry Up OffenseAudibles and Hurry Up OffenseAudibles and Hurry Up OffenseAudibles and Hurry Up OffenseNow that you have a play calling system, you can change your plays at the line of scrimmage likePayton Manning! Read the defense and make adjustments as needed, OR run the hurry up offense(using the same formation as the play before), and reading the routes from the line.
Disposable Playbook:Disposable Playbook:Disposable Playbook:Disposable Playbook:Disposable Playbook:This playbook can go with you on the field! You can use transparent plastic sheet protectors to hold thepaper. You can also cut the plays down to business card size and have them laminated. If you losethem, or they get damaged, simply print them again!
Blocking assignments, (Offensive-line):Blocking assignments, (Offensive-line):Blocking assignments, (Offensive-line):Blocking assignments, (Offensive-line):Blocking assignments, (Offensive-line):We only show assignments when someone is assigned a route. In the case of guards or center, pleaseassume normal blocking scheme unless you see that they have a specific route or assignment. Toavoid overcrowding the playbook, we don’t indicate their blocking schemes unless they are unique andneed explanation.
