Introductory word

dear ladies and gentlemen,

2006 was a challenge for ICN as well as a huge experience. In an imaginary mosaic composed of ICN services and activities, four stones were the most important in 2006:

1. Participation in projects supported by the EU, mostly by the European Social Fund. At the end of 2006 ICN led four of its own projects and participated in four others as a partner. The projects meant a significant increase of administrative work that had an impact on probably all our employees. We learned to solve problems that looked unsolvable at first. Most of all we are pleased by the results of our work on those projects.

2. The 9th annual „30 Days for the Non-Profit Sector“ campaign. The tax calculator became the central topic of the campaign. It enables calculation of the ideal amount of donation for individuals so that the tax base can be reduced in an optimal way. Not only citizens and companies showed their interest in the calculator but also the media, which resulted in the ninth annual campaign being one of the most successful in publicity. We also began cooperation with organizations such as PricewaterhouseCoopers and ČSOB bank which contributed to the successful result of the campaign.

3. The ICN information portal – Neziskovky.cz. In 2006 the old portal was changed. Its structure as well as graphic layout changed. Within the new portal the innovated Job Market shines even more. Its operations are comparable today with professional human resources portals. Cooperation with MEDIA FACTORY is very active and we are looking forward to more improvements in the future.

4. Seminars, courses, workshops. In 2006 the range of open seminars was enriched. Not only in terms of their numbers but also focus. Turn-key seminars for individual organizations are demanded more and more. ICN‘s Tutor and Consultants Alliance has also been very active. We appreciate the devotion and professionalism of our tutors who we will talk about later in this annual report. This is the only way ICN can gradually adopt new trends in education and training which are coming faster and faster.

In cooperation with PFIZER CR we opened the joint educational project ICN | PFIZER | ACADEMY. This activity has a great potential and we will see next year if it is going to be used well.

And finally, let me thank all those who supported ICN and keep supporting it. One day I would like to be able to measure the impact of ICN services on clients of NGOs using the ICN products. Our supporters and donors share a certainty with us that they are extremely important. I would like to thank to all of them in the name of ICN.

I believe that 2007 will be at least as successful as 2006 and that its „mosaic“ will be even bigger and more interesting.

The second goal is more ambitious, because its aim is to include those individuals and groups of our co-citizens who are closely affected by poverty in the decision-making process during which the social policy concerning them is created. knowing How to Handle It. competence for czech-German cooperation.

The IDOR e.V. organization, Brücke/Most foundation, the Informační centrum neziskových organizací, a public benefit organization and the Fotbal bez hranic civic association have together prepared an annual, year-long educational program called „Knowing How to Handle It. Competence for Czech-German Cooperation“. As a part of the one year education program seminars on intercultural competence, project management, PR, contact with media, and a mini-course in Czech and German will be held. Education intended for the implementers of the Czech-German projects is supported by the Robert Bosch foundation, the Czech-German Future Fund, the Koordinační centrum česko-německých výměn mládeže TANDEM and the EU as a part of the INTERREG IIIA partnership initiative through EUREGIA EGRENSIS AG Bayern and EUREGIA EGRENSIS Czech Republic.

The development of Personnel Management in the non-Profit organizations of Prague

The goal of the project is to raise the qualification of Prague lecturers, consultants and methodologists in personnel management of non-profit organizations. In this way the project responds to the problem of inadequate quality of personnel management in non-profit organizations that is an obstacle to the development of human resources, and a barrier in the development of these organizations and their sustainable growth. The project is carried out by the SPIRALIS civic association and the Informační centrum neziskových organizací, a public bene-fit organization, Mgr. Petr Konečný, Fakulta humanitních studií Univerzity Karlovy v Praze and the Ústav pro ekopolitiku, o.p.s. The project was supported by the European Social Fund, the European Partnership, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the capital city of Prague.

The Education of workers in the social Area

The goal of the project implemented from March 2006 by the Social Service Center Prague (Centrem sociálních služeb Praha) is to create and execute a so far non-existent complex education program for social workers that will follow up the initial education and will offer social workers continuous education in their field. The ICN takes part in the project by preparing and organizing most of the lessons. Another project partner is the Asociace občanských poraden, Česká asociace streetwork, Humanistas-Profes, a public benefit organization, Jabok - Vyšší sociálně pedagogická a teologická škola and the Vzdělávací centrum pro veřejnou zprávu ČR, a public benefit organization. The project was implemented thanks to the support of the European Social Fund, the state budget of the Czech Republic and the budget of the capital Prague

For a long time, ICN has been cooperating with selected public libraries in the Czech Republic‘s regions on providing information services to NGOs seated outside of Prague. ICN regularly sends updated information on the non-profit sector to libraries. The libraries themselves research NGOs in their area and cooperate with them actively in organizing events, for instance by providing their premises for meetings or exhibitions.

… I forward to you a report regarding the reactions to the radio spot for the 30 days campaign - it is very hard to accept for some handicapped, but the fact is that if they are to be helped the public has to be aroused. I thank you for the seminar in Brno at the BVV and wish you and your group success in the job that is so needed - the services that you do very well…

...We came back to Japan after all meetings in four countries, namely France, Czech Republic, Hungary, and United Kingdom. As we expected, we found that the interview with you was very helpful and fruitful, and that the discussion session enabled us to bring back something new to Japan. We have gained a lot of insights and information through the conversation and the materials you provided...

...we thank you for your services, thanks to your advertising we have already twice found our future employees…

...this Wednesday I visited your library and liked it very much. Mainly because of its versatility, international outlook, view and good arrangement. It is very useful and I will surely soon be back…

... just out of nostalgia I have surfed through neziskovky.cz and I wanted to say that the new pages are perfect. An elegant design, they are well arranged and full of information, practical, perfectly structured…

... ICN has worked with the Robert Bosch Foundation on „The Cities and Citizens in Partnership“ - program. During the work on our project we had a chance to get to know ICN and recognize them as a reliable and competent partner. Of the highest value to us is the very good standing of ICN among Czech non-profit organizations. We will gladly plan more projects together with ICN In the future.
