Dr. Menachem Elimelech received numerous proclamations and letters of congratulations from university professors, senators, U.S. House of Representatives, and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, as well as from

President George W. Bush.

Clarke Prize Executive Committee Vice-Chair Dr. Jerry Walker of the University of Southern California introduced Dr. Menachem Elimelech

at the ceremony.

Over 250 people attended the Clarke Prize Award Ceremony and Lecture, which included a reception and dinner.

Dr. Menachem Elimelech gives the 2005 Clarke lecture, which was titled, "The Global Challenge for Adequate and Safe Water."

Dr. Menachem Elimelech was surprised when his 18-year old daughter, Noa, sang a song in his honor at the award ceremony.

The song was a cover of "Wind Beneath My Wings" by Bette Midler.

Sisters Margret and Megan Yoo, both winners of the Orange County Science and Engineering Fair (for middle and high school students),

met Dr. Elimelech at the award ceremony.

A dozen of Dr. Elimelech's current and former students attended the ceremony to see him receive the award.
