Heated Front Seats (if equipped)

Select a heat setting for both theseatback and seat cushion• Press and release the button labeled

with the heated seat ( ) icon located on the front door armrest until the indicator lights designateyour setting: three for High, two forMedium, one for Low and none for Off.

Select a heat setting for the seatbackonly• Press and release the button labeled

BACK ONLY until the switch indicatesthe desired setting: three for High,two for Medium, one for Low andnone for Off.

The engine must be running to operatethis feature.See Section 1 of your Owner Manual.

Malfunction Indicator Lamp(Service Engine Soon Lamp)

This instrument panel lamp illuminatesunder a variety of conditions when theOn-Board Diagnostics II (OBD II) systemdetects a malfunction in the vehicle’semission controls.If the Malfunction Indicator Lamp is lit steadily, check the gas cap toensure it is present and securely fastened • Turn the cap clockwise until a “ratch-

eting” sound is heard, signaling that itis secure.

• If this is the cause of the condition, afew driving trips with the cap installedproperly should turn the light off.

See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Interior Lamps

Your vehicle is equipped with illuminatedentry and exit lighting as well as readinglamps and dome lamps.Activate illuminated entry feature• Open a door or press the UNLOCK

button on your Remote Keyless EntrySystem transmitter.

• With all doors closed, the domelamps stay illuminated briefly and turnoff automatically.

Disable entry and exit lighting • Push in the Dome Override button

located below the exterior lampsswitch (see “A” above). This will over-ride the illuminated entry featureunless the Remote Keyless EntrySystem transmitter is used to unlock

Select airflow source• Turn the MODE knob on the right of

Adjust the dual temperature controls• Use the lever on the left-hand side of

the climate control panel to adjust thetemperature on the left side of thevehicle.

• Use the right-hand lever to adjust thetemperature on the right side of thevehicle and the temperature for thesecond row.

Cool the vehicle interior more quicklyon very hot days• Choose the coolest temperature

setting.• Activate the RECIRCULATE ( )

and A/C ( ) buttons.• Place the A/C mode knob in the

VENT mode.• Open the windows just long enough

to let the hot air escape.Turn on the rear window defogger• Press the rear window defogger

( REAR) button.• An indicator light on the button will

come on to let you know the rear window defogger is active.

Dual Automatic Climate Control(if equipped)

Manually select desired airflowsource• Press and release the MODE button

until the desired source is indicatedon the display. Mode selectionsinclude VENT, BI-LEVEL, FLOORand DEFOG/DEFROST.

Manually raise or lower fan speed• Press the upper or lower portion of

the FAN control button.Manually adjust the dual temperaturecontrols• Use the knob on the left-hand side of

the climate control panel to adjust thetemperature on the driver side of thevehicle. Use the right-hand knob toadjust the temperature on the pas-senger side of the vehicle as well asthe second row.

• To match and link the passenger-sidetemperature to the driver’s, press andhold the AUTO button for three sec-onds.

Recirculate interior air and preventoutside air from entering your vehicle• Press the RECIRCULATE button.This feature can be activated while inthe VENT or BI-LEVEL mode, but not inDEFOG, DEFROST or FLOOR mode.Clear the windshield and front sidewindows of fog or frost more quickly• Press the FRONT button.Clear the rear glass of fog or frostmore quickly, and activate the heatedoutside rearview mirrors (if equipped)• Press the REAR button.Adjust and Memorize the preferredautomatic settings for two drivers• Press the button with the unlock

symbol on the remote keyless entrytransmitter, or press one of the memory buttons on the driver’s door.

• Push the AUTO button and adjust the temperature knob to the desiredtemperature to set automatic air deliv-ery mode, fan speed, A/C and recir-culation functions for the driver.

• Press AUTO again within five seconds and settings for the frontpassenger are displayed and can be adjusted.

• The new settings are automaticallymemorized for the driver as identifiedby the Remote Keyless Entry trans-mitter or by memory button.

Rear Seat Climate Controls

(5-Passenger Vehicle System shown)

Turn the rear controls on and off (5-passenger vehicle)• Press the PWR ( ) button.

(Note: The rear controls do not function when the front climate control is in DEFROST mode.)

Turn the rear controls on(7-passenger vehicle)• Set the rear HVAC knob (located on

the front floor console) to R.Change the direction of airflow• Use the mode knob on SLE (or the

button on SLT models) to selectupper, bi-level or floor.

Set the temperature of air through therear outlets (5-passenger vehicle)• Temperature of air from the rear

outlets is determined by the front passenger temperature setting.

Set the temperature of air through the rear outlets from the rear control(7-passenger vehicle)• Set the rear HVAC knob (located on

the front floor console) to R.• Turn the center knob on the control

panel to choose a temperature (onSLE models) or use the temperaturebutton with the arrows on SLT.

Adjust rear fan speed (7-passengervehicle)• Use the Fan button with the arrows

(on SLT) or the fan control knob onSLE models.

Content Theft-Deterrent System

Arm the Content-Theft DeterrentSystem• Lock the doors using the power door

lock switch or by pressing the LOCKbutton on the Remote Keyless EntrySystem transmitter.

• After closing all doors, the securitylamp on the instrument panel stopsflashing and remains lit. After a delayof about 30 seconds, the lamp dark-ens and the system arms itself.

• When arming with the power doorlock switch, at least one door must beopen and the key must be removedfrom the ignition. (Note: A door doesnot have to be open to arm the sys-tem with the Remote Keyless EntrySystem transmitter.)

• The system will not arm if the door islocked with a key or the manual doorlock button is pressed.

• If the alarm is tripped, the hornsounds and the headlamps/taillampsflash for about two minutes. Thealarm sounds whenever a lockeddoor is opened without the key orRemote Keyless Entry System trans-mitter, or someone attempts to turnon the ignition without the correct key.

Turn off the alarm if set by accident• Unlock a door with the key or press

UNLOCK on the Remote KeylessEntry transmitter.

• Starting the engine with the correctkey will also turn off the alarm.

Lockout Protection

Prevent your ignition key from beinglocked in your vehicle• When the key is in the ignition and

a door is open, pressing any powerdoor lock switch unlocks the driverdoor and locks all other doors.

See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Headlamp Controls

The exterior lamps knob is located onthe instrument panel, to the left of thesteering wheel.Turn off the Daytime Running Lamps(DRL) and automatic headlamp system• Move the knob to the OFF ( )

position.The automatic headlamp system auto-matically reactivates at the next key-on.

Activate the Daytime Running Lamps(DRL) and automatic headlamp system• Move the knob to the AUTO ( )

position.• All exterior lamps and the instrument

panel/radio lights will illuminate whenthey are needed.

Manually activate the parking lamps,sidemarker lamps, taillamps, instru-ment panel/radio lights and licenseplate lamps• Move the knob to the parking lamp

( ) position.Manually activate the headlamps, allexterior tail/marker lamps and theinstrument panel/radio lights• Move the knob to the ON ( )

position.Activate the fog lamps• Press the button (See “A” below)

located on the instrument panel to theright of the exterior lamps switchonce.

Heated, Power Outside Mirrors(if equipped)

Activate heat feature on the poweroutside mirrors • Press the rear window defogger but-

ton on the climate control panel. See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Outside Mirrors with Curb ViewAssist (if equipped)

Save curb view assist position memory settings• Press the Personalization button,

located on your steering wheel, until“Tilt Mirror in REVERSE (R)” appearson the DIC display.

• Press the Select button once tochoose the passenger’s side mirror,press it twice for the driver’s side mirror and three times for both mirrors.

• Press the Personalization buttonrepeatedly until the display is blank.

• Using your driver’s door-mountedelectric controls, adjust the mirrorsdownward to allow you to see curbswhen backing up while the vehicle isin REVERSE (R) and the brake pedalis pressed.

• When the vehicle is shifted out ofREVERSE (R), the mirrors return totheir original positions, and theREVERSE (R) positions are savedfor the current driver.

Memory Seats (if equipped)

Save driver seat preference memorysetting• Adjust the driver seat (including seat-

back recliner and lumbar) to a com-fortable position.

• Press and hold either the driver 1 ordriver 2 memory button located onthe driver’s door. A double chime willsound to confirm your settings.

To program settings for a second driver,repeat the same procedure using theother numbered memory button.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Electric Adjustable Pedals

Adjust the brake and accelerator pedals to comfortable positions

• Press the switch located on the steer-ing column toward you to move thepedals closer to you.

• Press the switch away from you tomove the pedals away from you.Note: The pedals cannot be posi-tioned farther away from the driverthan they are in their standard posi-tion. This feature can be programmedto work with the memory function (if equipped) on your vehicle.Adjustment of the powered pedalsrequires that the vehicle be in Park.

See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Entertainment Systems

Set the time on radios without usingthe Radio Data System (RDS)• Press the H or HR (down) arrow until

the correct hour appears on the display.

• Press and hold the M or MIN (up)arrow until the correct minute appearson the display.

The time may be set with the ignition onor off.

Set the time to an FM station’s RadioData System (RDS) setting (if equipped)• Press and hold both HR and MN for

two seconds until UPDATED and theclock symbol appear on the display.

• Press and hold both HR and MN foranother two seconds to accept andset the time.

• If the time is not available from thestation, NO UPDAT appears in thedisplay.

Program radio station presets• Turn the radio on.• Press AM-FM to select the band

(AM, FM1/FM2/XM1/XM2).• Use the seek or tune knob to tune in

the desired station.• Press AUTO TONE to select the

equalization that best suits the type of station selected.

• Press and hold one of the six num-bered buttons until a beep sounds;release the button.

• Repeat these steps for each stationpreset, using a different numberedbutton for each station.

Activate the Radio Data System(RDS) traffic announcement feature (if equipped)• Press TRAF. <TRAF> will appear on

the display if the tuned station broad-casts traffic announcements.

• If the tuned station does not broad-cast traffic announcements, the radiowill seek a station that does.

• If no station is found, NO TRAFappears on the display.

Display a station’s INFO messagewhen INFO appears on the display• Press INFO to see the message.

Once the complete message hasbeen displayed, INFO disappearsfrom the display.

Tune to an RDS broadcast of a selected program type• Turn the P-TYPE knob to select the

Program Type you want to listen to. • Press the SEEK or SEEK TYPE

button (as applies to your radio).Access one of the two available XMSatellite Radio bands (if equipped) • Press the BAND button until XM1 or

XM2 appears on the display.

Load one CD into the Six-Disc CDplayer (if equipped)• With the ignition on, press and

release the LOAD side of the LOADCD button.

• Wait for the green indicator light atthe right side of the slot to turn green.

• Insert the disc partway into the slot,label side up; the player will pull thedisc in.

Load multiple CDs• With the ignition on, press and hold

the LOAD button for two seconds.The unit beeps and the light to theright of the slot begins to flash.

• When the light stops flashing andturns green, insert a disc partway,label side up.

• The indicator light will begin blinkingand turn steadily green. Load anotherdisc at this time.

• When loading more than one butfewer than six CDs, press the LOADbutton again to signal that loading iscomplete.

• When more than one disc is loaded, a number for each disc is displayed.

• To play a specific CD, press the CDAUX button and then the number ofthe CD you want to hear.

• A small bar appears under the CDnumber that is playing, and the tracknumber appears.

See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Rainsense Wipers (if equipped)

Rainsense Wipers automatically controlthe frequency of the wipers from OFF toHIGH speed according to the amount ofmoisture on the windshield.

Headlamp Washers (if equipped)

Spray the headlamps with washerfluid• Press the headlamp washer button

(see “A” above) located on the instrument panel to the left of thesteering wheel.

See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Activate the Rainsense feature• Set the wipers to one of five moisture

sensitivity settings on the multifunc-tion lever.

• The closer the setting is to the OFFposition, the less sensitive it will be tomoisture.

See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Note: Turn this feature off before enter-ing an automatic car wash.

• Press and release the HomeLink®

button again. If the indicator lightstays lit constantly, programming iscomplete.

• Continue programming additionaldevices using the transmitters, but donot press the two outside buttons onthe HomeLink® transmitter again.

If the HomeLink® indicator light blinksrapidly for two seconds and remains on, it indicates that your device (usually agarage door opener) has a “rollingcode.” Continue with the following steps:• Press the training button (sometimes

marked “LEARN” or “SMART”) on thegarage door opener motor head unit,making sure that the indicator lightflashes to confirm training mode.

• Within 30 seconds, press and holdthe HomeLink® transmitter button pro-grammed in the previous steps fortwo seconds.

• Press and release this button threetimes, holding it for two-second inter-vals to ensure that the HomeLink®

transmitter has been trained.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

HomeLink® UniversalTransmitter (if equipped)

The controls for this feature are locatedon your overhead console.Program the transmitter • Turn the ignition OFF.• Press and hold down the two outside

buttons until the indicator light flash-es, then release the buttons (about20 seconds — do not hold for morethan 30 seconds); do not repeat thisstep for the second or third devicesthat you plan to add to theHomeLink® system.

• Hold the end of your hand-held trans-mitter up to three inches away fromthe surface of the universal transmit-ter and hold its button and the buttonyou wish to assign it to on theHomeLink® system.

• Continue holding both buttons (up to90 seconds may pass as the univer-sal transmitter is being programmed);the indicator light will begin blinkingslowly, then more quickly. Program-ming is complete when the light onthe HomeLink® transmitter flashesrapidly.

• Release both buttons.

Travel Note Recorder (if equipped)

The Travel Note Recorder includes threebuttons located in the overhead console. Record a message• Press the button marked with a circle

and begin speaking.• Press the button again to stop record-

ing, or press and hold the buttonwhile recording and release it to stoprecording.

Play a message• Press the button with a right arrow

designation. If multiple messages arestored, the system plays one mes-sage and stops.

• Press the button again until reachingthe desired message.

Play all messages• Press and hold the button with the

right arrow for more than one second.Delete a message• Press the button with the square

while the message is playing. Delete all messages • Press and hold the right arrow button

and the circle button simultaneouslyfor a half-second.

Driver Information Center (if equipped)

Your vehicle’s Driver Information Center(DIC) is located in the instrument panelcluster. Access DIC modes• Press one of the following DIC but-

tons located on the steering wheel.– Trip Information ( )– Fuel Information ( ) – Personalization ( )– Select settings ( )

Trip Information Button• Press to scroll through the odometer,

TRIP A, TRIP B, and TIMER. Wheneither TRIP A or TRIP B is displayed,you can press the SELECT button toreset the displayed odometer.

• You can also reset a trip odometer to zero by pressing and holding thereset stem for four seconds. WhenTIMER is displayed, you can pressthe Select button to start or stop thetimer. To reset it to zero, push andhold the select button while TIMER isdisplayed.

Fuel Information Button • Press to scroll through the range,

average fuel economy, instant fueleconomy and the GM Oil LifeSystemTM.

• RANGE estimates the remaining dis-tance you can drive without refueling.Range is based on recent fuel econo-my and the fuel remaining in the tank.

• AVG. ECON calculates how manymiles per gallon you are gettingbased on overall driving conditions.Press and hold the Select buttonwhile AVG. ECON is displayed andthe DIC will begin calculating theaverage fuel economy from that pointin time.

• INST. ECON calculates how manymiles per gallon you are getting at aparticular moment.

• ENGINE OIL LIFE calculates an esti-mate (percentage) of the engine oil’sremaining useful life. It also will alertyou when it is time to change your oilby illuminating the CHANGE ENGOIL light on your instrument panel.Please remember to always reset theoil life system after an oil change. Toreset the Engine Oil Life monitor,press and hold the Select button forfour seconds while ENGINE OIL LIFEis displayed. When successful, theDIC will display ENGINE OIL LIFE:100%.

Note: If your vehicle is not equippedwith DIC steering wheel buttons, pressthe trip odometer reset stem located inthe instrument panel cluster to selectthe information. Hold the stem for fourseconds to reset trip odometers.

Personalization Button• Press the Personalization button

once and the current driver will bedisplayed. Any changes made willaffect only the displayed driver.Press this button again to scrollthrough and set the personalizationfeatures.

Select Button• Press to scroll through the menu

choices for each personalization feature. Finalize your choice bypressing the button while it is displayed on the DIC and move on to the next feature.

• The personalization features can bereset to their default mode by holdingthe Trip Information button and thePersonalization button down for fourseconds.

Language Options• If you find that the unit displays a lan-

guage other than the one you preferand you are unable to change it, holdthe Trip and Personalization buttonsdown until the display begins cyclingthrough the three available lan-guages. Release the buttons whenyou see the preferred language.Note that this will reset this driver’spersonalization settings to the factorydefault setting.

Displaying Driver Preferences• The driver preferences are recalled

by pressing any button on theRemote Keyless Entry System transmitter or by pressing the appropriate memory button (1 or 2)located on the driver’s door. The lastvalue displayed for each preferenceis saved automatically.

Sun Visors

Block glare • To help block the sun’s glare, rotate

the sun visor down.• Block the driver or passenger front-

side window glare by turning the sunvisor to the side window.

• The sun visor can also slide along theattachment bar for additional windowcoverage.

See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Electronically Controlled AirSuspension (if equipped)

Occasional “whirring” and/or “hiss-ing” sound under the rear of the vehi-cle under heavier rear loads.• This sound indicates that the sys-

tem’s air compressor is operating toprovide a level ride height, and is normal.

See Section 4 of your Owner Manual.

Air Inflator System (if equipped)

Locate the airinflator unit and kit• The inflator unit

is in the rearcompartment onthe passengerside of the vehi-cle, behind anaccess cover.

• An inflator kit,with a 22-foot hose and three nozzleadapters, is located in the glove box.

Use the air inflator• Open the access cover.• Attach the appropriate nozzle adapter

to the end of the hose (if required).• Attach that end of the hose to the

object you are inflating. Attach theother end of the hose to the inflatoroutlet.

• Press and release the on/off switch toturn the air inflator on. An indicatorlight verifies that the inflator is running.

• When inflation is complete, press andrelease the on/off switch again.

• Remove the hose from the outlet(load leveling will not operate whenthe hose is attached to the outlet).

Four-Wheel Drive (if equipped)

Envoy’s four-wheel drive system rotarycontrols are located on the instrumentpanel.Shift into 4HI or A4WD • Turn the knob to 4HI or A4WD. This

can be done at any speed exceptwhen shifting from 4LO.

Shift into 2HI• Turn the knob to 2HI. This can be

done at any speed except when shift-ing from 4LO.

Shift into or out of 4LO• With the ignition in RUN and the vehi-

cle stopped or moving less than 3mph (4.8 km/h), shift the transmissioninto neutral.

• Turn the knob to the 4LO or the 2HI,4HI or A4WD, preferably with thevehicle moving 1 to 2 mph (1.6 to 3.2km/h).

• Wait for the indicator lamp to stopflashing and remain illuminated, thenshift your transmission into gear.

Shift into NEUTRAL (N)Place the transfer case in neutral onlywhen towing your vehicle. See Section 4 of your Owner Manual for towing information.See Sections 2, 4 and 5 of your Owner Manual.

Traction Assist System (if equipped)

The Traction Assist System (TAS) limitswheelspin and only operates if it sensesthat one or both rear wheels begin tolose traction. When this happens,engine power is reduced to limit wheel-spin. You may hear or feel the systemworking.The system is automatically enabledwhenever the engine is started. Turn the system OFF or ON• Press the TAS on/off button located

near the shift lever.• With the system off, the TRAC

ON/OFF button indicator light comeson until TAS is turned back on or thevehicle is turned off and restarted.

Luggage Carrier (if equipped)

Slide the crossrails to desired position• Pull up the lever on each side of the

crossrail. This will release the cross-rail and allow you to slide it.

• When the crossrail is where you wantit, press down on the levers to lock itin place.

Reduce wind noise when the roof luggage carrier is not in use• Position the rear crossrail at the

rearmost position and the front crossrail above the rearmost portionof the rear door opening (above the “C”-pillar).
