Seller InsightThe current owners of this lovely family home were moving into the area from London. They undertook a wide search and visited many towns and villages in the area. After spending several hours wandering around the delightful village of Willian, they stopped for

lunch at one of its friendly gastro pubs and decided that it was here their search for a suitable location would end; they just needed to find the perfect family home in this village.

The village is quite close to several urban conurbations, but has not been ‘swallowed up’ by them and has retained its strong, independent, village atmosphere. However, having the ease of close access to centres such as Hitchin and Letchworth Garden City is most convenient. Excellent schools, theatres, arts centres, restaurants and sports and leisure facilities are all so convenient. Hitchin is the chosen destination for the main line station for journeys into Kings Cross, which take around thirty minutes and the nearby major roads are very easy to access.

Therefore, when the owners discovered this lovely property in such a fabulous location, it ticked all their boxes and they moved to live here in 2010. Built in 1850, and the original farmhouse for the village, it had been renovated some years ago. However, the new owners have considerably enhanced their home and systematically worked from room to room to refurbish and reorganise their internal layout; although still allowing further enhancement to be tailored to the purchaser’s choice. The result of their attention to detail being a home with a design which provides an ideal layout for contemporary living.

Favourite Room: A part of the construction project was to create a large, sociable, dining/reception room. Part of the room has a designated play area but, the layout is such that, when guests arrive for supper, the subdued lighting comes into operation and it transforms into an elegant, atmospheric, dining room.

Favourite aspect of the grounds or surrounding area: To rear of the house there is a traditional courtyard on which other properties are set. This provides a friendly independent, unique, community, but one where individual privacy is carefully maintained.

Memorable event (or if that’s not possible, another favourite room): The snug is a favoured room. It is warm and cosy and looks out onto the garden creating the perfect room for quiet relaxation after a busy day.

What they’ll miss most/why they are leaving: There will be so many happy memories for the owners to take away. Walking through the local countryside, enjoying meals in either of the two popular pubs or, maybe, just walking through the pretty village enjoying its unique friendliness.
