Instructions for Written/Verbal QuestionsInstructions for Trainer Written/Verbal Questions for this cluster of units of competency are found in the

Assessment Workbook The Trainer is to inform the Participant that the Written/Verbal Questions are to be

completed as part of their assessment. A timeframe should be set as to when the Written/Verbal Questions are to be

answered and handed back to the Trainer for assessment. The Written/Verbal Questions are to be collected and the Trainer is to assess the

answers as either Satisfactory or Not Satisfactory by completing the Written/Verbal Questions Assessment Record.

The Trainer will find suggested answers to each written question within this assessment guide.

The Trainer and the Participant must sign and date the record to validate that the assessment has taken place and this should be attached to the Participant's work.

Participants must respond satisfactorily to all questions and these will form part of the evidence gathered for the overall assessment for these units.

Instructions for Demonstration (Observation by Trainer)Instructions for Trainer Read the instructions for the demonstrations to the Participant Prompt the Participant to respond verbally during observation, should you need

further clarity for the observation Observe all the task points in the observation tables:

Competency mappingCompetency mapping is the method of identifying the competencies (technical, behavioural, conceptual, skills, etc.) required to perform a given role. The competency mapping tool is designed to determine validity and sufficiency of the learning content and assessment tasks. It is a validation tool and used to map assessment tasks to the unit requirements.

Its purpose is to: Ensure that the tasks will meet the critical and mandated requirements of the

unit(s) of competency Clearly show what the participant will be expected to do Determine sufficiency of the evidence to be collected.

The tool provides a document for the Trainer to refer to when viewing evidence prior to making an assessment decision.

Mapping is undertaken for a unit of competency or cluster of units. The tool takes the form of a matrix and references assessment tasks to performance criteria, required skills and knowledge, critical aspects for assessment and evidence and employability skills for the units making up the training program.

Assessment methodsVarious assessment techniques are used to gather different types of evidence of competency. The assessment techniques used in this cluster is abbreviated as follows:
