Martin Scorsese to Be Feted byArt Directors Guild

Martin Scorsese (http://variety.com/t/martin-scorsese/) will receive the

Cinematic Imagery Award at the 18th annual Art Directors Guild

(http://variety.com/t/art-directors-guild/)’s Excellence in Production Design

Awards on Feb. 8, the org announced on Thursday.

The kudofest, set to take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, will be hosted

by standup comedian Owen Benjamin.

Scorsese took home a long-awaited Oscar in 2006 for helming “The

Departed” in 2006; his additional eight nominations from the Academy

include those for “Raging Bull,” “Gangs of New York,” “The Aviator” and,

most recently, “Hugo.” His latest pic, “The Wolf of Wall Street,” bows in

theaters Dec. 25.

In addition to the contributions Scorsese has made through his films, he

will be celebrated for founding the Film Foundation

(http://variety.com/t/film-foundation/) and the World Cinema Project, two

non-profit organizations dedicated to the preservation, restoration and

protection of film.

Previous recipients of the Cinematic Imagery Award have included the

production designers behind the James Bond franchise, the principal team

behind the Harry Potter films, Bill Taylor, Syd Dutton, Warren Beatty, Allen

Daviau, Clint Eastwood, Blake Edwards, Terry Gilliam, Ray Harryhausen,

Norman Jewison, John Lasseter, George Lucas, Frank Oz, Steven

Spielberg, Robert S. Wise and Zhang Yimou.

The ADG previously announced that Rick Carter will receive the ADG’s

lifetime achievement award. Robert Clatworthy, Harper Goff and and J.

Michael Riva will be inducted into the org’s hall of fame.

Nominations for this year’s ADG Excellence in Production Design Awards

will be announced on Jan. 9. Awards will be presented in competitive

categories for film, television, commercials and musicvideos at the Feb. 8

ceremony.

Martin Scorsese To Be Honored by Art Di‐rectors Guild

Martin Scorsese will receive the Cinematic Imagery Awardat the 18th annual Art Directors Guild’s Excellence in Pro‐duction Design Awards, Feb. 8 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

"The ADG has always considered his hands-on pursuit ofexcellence of production design to equal all of the finecraftsmanship that goes into every aspect of all MartinScorsese films." said John Shaffner, ADG council chairman.

Scorsese’s latest film, Paramount’s The Wolf of Wall Street,will be released on December 25.

Scorsese’s long list of well-known directing credits includeThe Departed, for which he won an Oscar for best director; as well as Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, RagingBull, Goodfellas, The Aviator and Hugo. His documentaries include Peabody-award winners No DirectionHome: Bob Dylan and Elia Kazan: A Letter to Elia.

The helmer is also founder and chair of The Film Foundation and the World Cinema Project, non-profit or‐ganizations dedicated to the preservation, restoration and protection of film.

Also during the ADG Awards ceremony, Rick Carter will receive the Guild’s Lifetime Achievement Award;and Robert Clatworthy, Harper Goff, and J. Michael Riva will be inducted into the ADG’s Hall of Fame.

Martin Scorsese is to receive an award from the Art Directors Guild

Martin Scorsese is to receive the Cinematic Imagery Award from the Art Directors Guild.

The Oscar-winning director will be presented with the gong at the 18th annual Art Directors Guild's Excellence inProduction Design Awards on February 8, reported Variety.

Martin, who won the Academy Award for best director for The Departed, will also be feted for launching the FilmFoundation and the World Cinema Project, two non-profit organisations dedicated to the preservation,restoration and protection of film.

The 71-year-old filmmaker, who has been nominated for eight Oscars, follows in the footsteps of former winnersClint Eastwood, Warren Beatty, Terry Gilliam, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Zhang Yimou.

The production designers behind the James Bond films franchise and the Harry Potter movies have also won theCinematic Imagery award.

Oscar-winning production designer and art director Rick Carter, who has worked on Forrest Gump, Avatar andLincoln, will be honoured with the lifetime achievement award, while Robert Clatworthy, Harper Goff and and JMichael Riva will be inducted into the organisation's hall of fame.

The ceremony, which will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Hollywood, will be hosted by comedian OwenBenjamin.

MARTIN SCORSESE SET TO RECEIVE CINEMATIC IMAGERYAWARD

Martin Scorsese is one of the most prominent and influential

filmmakers working today. His latest film, Paramount Pictures

The Wolf of Wall Street , starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Matthew

McConaughey, Margot Robbie and Jonah Hill, will be released

on December 25. He directed the critically acclaimed, award-

winning films Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The Last

Temptation of Christ, Goodfellas, Gangs of New

Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Martin Scorsese ,

whose films have consistently reflected the highest quality of

production design, will receive the prestigious CinematicImagery Award from the Art Directors Guild (ADG) at its

18th Annual Art Directors Guild’s Excellence in Production

Design Awards, it was announced today by ADG Council Chairman John Shaffner and Awards Producers Raf

Lydon and Dave Blass. Set for February 8, 2014 , the black-tie ceremony at The Beverly Hilton Hotel will be

hosted by Owen Benjamin and will honor more than 40 years of Scorsese’s extraordinary award-winning

work.

The ADG’s Cinematic Imagery Award is given to those whose body of work in the film industry has richly

enhanced the visual aspects of the movie-going experience. Previous recipients have been the Production

Designers behind the James Bond franchise, the principal team behind the Harry Potter films, Bill Taylor, Syd

Dutton, Warren Beatty, Allen Daviau, Clint Eastwood, Blake Edwards, Terry Gilliam, Ray Harryhausen, Norman

Jewison, John Lasseter, George Lucas, Frank Oz, Steven Spielberg, Robert S. Wise and Zhang Yimou.

Said Shaffner, “The ADG has wanted Scorsese to accept this deserving honor since the earliest days of its

inception. We are beyond delighted that his schedule finally now allows him time to receive it! The ADG has

The$Art$Directors$Guild$has$announced$that$they$will$presentdirector$Martin$Scorsese$with$the$Cinematic$Imagery$Award.

In$a$press$release,$The$ADG$noted$that$Scorsese$will$be$honored$atthe$18th$Annual$Art$Directors$Guild's$Excellence$in$ProductionDesign$Awards$on$Feb.$8,$2014.

The$Cinematic$Imagery$Award$is$presented$to$those$whose$work$isfull$of$rich$visual$aspects$that$draw$people$into$going$to$the$movies.ADG$Council$Chairman$John$Shaffner$said,$"The$ADG$has$wantedScorsese$to$accept$this$deserving$honor$since$the$earliest$days$of$itsinception."

He$added,$"We$are$beyond$delighted$that$his$schedule$Sinally$now$allows$him$time$to$receive$it!$The$ADG$has$always$consideredhis$handsQon$pursuit$of$excellence$of$production$design$to$equal$all$of$the$Sine$craftsmanship$that$goes$into$every$aspect$of$allMartin$Scorsese$Silms."

Scorsese's$long$career$includes$such$Silms$as$The$Departed,$Taxi$Driver,$Raging$Bull$and$Goodfellas,$notes$The$HollywoodReporter.$His$latest$Silm,$and$another$with$actor$Leonardo$DiCaprio,$The$Wolf$of$Wall$Street$hits$theaters$Christmas $Day.

Rick$Carter$will$also$be$honored$at$the$event$for$the$Guild's$Lifetime$Achievement$Award,$while$J.$Michael$Riva,$Harper$Goff$andRobert$Clatworthy$will$be$inducted$into$the$ADG's$Hall$of$Fame.

Movie-maker Martin Scorsese will be feted by the Art Directors Guild (ADG) next year as he is handed the Cinematic Imagery Award.

The Oscar-winning director will be given the prestigious accolade at the 18th annual Art Directors Guild's Excellence in ProductionDesign Awards on February 8th in Los Angeles.

The organization's council chairman, John Shaffner, lauds Scorsese's work and tells The Hollywood Reporter, "The ADG has alwaysconsidered his hands-on pursuit of excellence of production design to equal all of the fine craftsmanship that goes into every aspectof all Martin Scorsese films."

In addition to his numerous directing credits, Scorsese is also founder and chair of The Film Foundation and the World CinemaProject, which are non-profit organizations dedicated to the preservation, restoration and protection of film.

Previous recipients of the honour include the production designers on the James Bond franchise, the principal team behind the HarryPotter films

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 6 (UPI) --Filmmaker Martin Scorsese is tobe presented with the CinematicImagery Award by the ArtDirectors Guild at a ceremony inLos Angeles, organizers said.

The "Wolf of Wall Street" directorwill be honored at the 18th annualArt Directors Guild's Excellence inProduction Design Awards Feb. 8at The Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The announcement was madeThursday by ADG Council Chairman John Shaffner and awards producers RafLydon and Dave Blass.

"The ADG has wanted Scorsese to accept this deserving honor since the earliestdays of its inception," Shaffner said in a statement. "We are beyond delightedthat his schedule finally now allows him time to receive it! The ADG has alwaysconsidered his hands-on pursuit of excellence of production design to equal all ofthe fine craftsmanship that goes into every aspect of all Martin Scorsese films."

Scorsese's films include "Taxi Driver," "Raging Bull," "Mean Streets,""Goodfellas," "Casino," "Gangs of New York," "The Aviator," "The Departed,""Hugo," and "Shutter Island."
