obins Air Force Base contributed $2.87 billion to
the Georgia economy, according to the installa-
tion’s latest economic impact statement. That represents about an
$11 million increase over the previous year.
Published annually, the statement provides general information
about the economic impact the installation had on the state of
Georgia.
The report is also distributed to federal, state and local officials.
The fiscal 2017 statement sized Robins’ workforce at 22,257 – a
figure that is made up of 13,686 appropriated fund civilians, 5,938
military members and 2,633 other employees.
The statement also says Robins distributed $1.38 billion in sala-
ries. The largest chunk of that money – $993.6 million – went to
civilians working on base, while military members accounted for
$373.3 million, and non-federal civilians and contract employees
accounted for just above $14.3 million.
Additionally, the base awarded $7.4 billion in contracts during
fiscal 2017. Of that amount, the base awarded $440.4 million to
Georgia firms, with $203.4 million going to firms in Cobb County.
The top five contracts were awarded to Boeing, Northrup Grum-
man, Lockheed Martin, General Atomics and Raytheon.

The Economic Impact Statement provides information
about the economic impact Robins Air Force Base has
on the state of Georgia. It’s made available to federal,
state and local officials, business leaders and the gen-
eral public. An installation’s economic impact on the
state is calculated by identifiable on- and off-base
spending in the state from gross expenditures. All fi-
nancial figures are rounded to the nearest dollar. This
statement is for fiscal 2017. The report is based on
data analyzed by the Air Force Sustainment Center
Financial Management Operating Location at Robins.

A T A G L A N C E
There are 22,257 total personnel at Robins Air Force
Base, including 5,938 military members, 13,686 ap-
propriated fund civilians and 2,633 employees who
are funded by other sources. Robins has an annual
federal payroll of $1.38 billion and annual expendi-
tures of $398.3 million. It also creates more than
$1.09 billion in jobs. Based on that data, Robins had a
$2.87 billion total annual economic impact on Georgia
— an $11 million increase from fiscal 2016.
