Progress towards democracy and national reconciliation is on track and in accordance with the timeline

• Work of the National Legislative Assembly and National Reform Council is progressing well.

During the past 7 months, the NLA has approved 49 draft laws and many more are pending,

while the first draft of the new constitution should be completed by the end of April of this

year. Also, the NRA should be able to finish the draft framework for national reform within

end of February

• The target date for national elections is on track in accordance with the roadmap. Recently,

the prime minister has mentioned to the media that national elections could take place in

early 2016.

• In order to be able to maintain peace and security for the general public and to be able to

respOnd quickly to developments, NCPO still sees the need to maintain martial law and, to some extent, restrict the rights of citizens. However, such measures hardly affect the day to

day lives of the Thai population

Reviving the economy and regaining the confidence of investors is a top priority for the government

• The government is confident that 2015 GDP Growth will be at the levels of 3.9 to 4.0%,

which is not too far away from the annual forecast for ASEAN at 5.4%

• In December 2014, consumer confidence was at an 18 months record high at 81.1 points • Consumer confidence on the overall economy continues to improve as well.

• Investor confidence is at a satisfactory level, although the improvement is gradual due to

global factors. The overall picture is positive and we are confident about continued recovery of the Thai economy.

• It is expected that 2015 exports will grow at 4% (IMF forecast was at 3.4%), which, at this point in time, the Ministry of Commerce is drawing up an export strategy to achieve such target.

• It is expected that, by the end of this October, the government would have disbursed the

first tranche of spending, worth 68 billion baht, for the infrastructure projects. The overall

infrastructure investment project, over an 8 year period, is worth 2.4 trillion baht.

The majority of the Thai population continues to support NCPO and the Government. They want

the NCPO and the Government to help maintain peace and order and return the country to a path

of prosperity.

• The latest public polls, evaluating the performance of the NCPO for the past 8 months,

showed that the majority of the population, as high as 91.8% of all respondents, is.satisfied

with the work of NCPO and the Government and wants them to carry on the work until the goals are achieved.

• In particular, public polls conducted in January, gave Prime Minister Prayuth an approval rate of 89.0%

• Poll results also showed that the majority of the population was very satisfied with NPCO's

Why the military coup in May of last year? Will the military allow the country to return to democracy?

NCPO has clearly announced from the beginning that it has decided to temporarily take

charge of the country in order to help the country find a way out from the political turmoil

that Thailand had been in for the past several years. The turmoil had severely impacted the

economy, the unity of the Thai society, the security and well-being of the Thai people. NCPO

has announced a roadmap or a work plan which it is strictly following. Such road map is

divided into 3 periods. The first phase is to restore peace and order to the country. The

second phase is to draft a new constitution and a plan for national reform and national

reconciliation. And, the third phase is the organizing of a national election and returning the

country to democracy. As we speak, the work of the National Council for Peace and Order

(NCPO), the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) and the National Reform Council (NRC),

What NCPO is doing is against democratic principles and a violation of basic human rights

Due to the prolonged political turmoil and violence that followed, it is clear that NCPO had no choice but to step in and restrict certain activities, with an objective to bring about peace

and security to the country. Such restrictions had some impact on basic human rights, such

as the restriction on the freedom of expression. However, such restrictions had no impact, whatsoever, on the day to day lives of Thai citizens or visitors tc Thailand.

Is it true that the recent impeachment of former prime minister Yingluck Shinnawatra and,

the filing of legal proceedings against her, are politically motivated?

The impeachment process by the NLA against the former prime minister on charges of

negligence and malfeasance over the rice mortgage scheme and the filing of legal

proceedings against her are, in fact, two separate processes, performed by two separate

institutions. They are neither linked nor politically motivated. The impeachment process is

the duty of the NLA, in accordance with the interim constitution and the existing laws. As for

the legal proceedings, they are brought against her by the Anti-Corruption Commission and the Office of the Attorney General.

Is the recent bombings in front of the Paragon shopping Center a situation created by

NCPO as a pretext to continue to impose the martial law?

The maintenance of national peace and order and to return the country to normalcy as quickly as possible is a top priority for NCPO and the Government. Why therefore should

NCPO create a situation that is diametrically opposite to its abovementioned mission. As we speak, the National Police already has some leads about the perpetrators and arrest warrants have been issued against the suspects.
