We are honored to feature
Mary Felts as the New Year
featured Senior Center
member. Mary was born
August 29, 1936 right here
in Santa Barbara.
In 2004 Mary saw an ad in
the newspaper about the
Senior Center. She talked
to Dolores who told her all
about the programs at the
Center. After that talk,
Mary and Dolores began
to be great friends.
Mary retired from Santa
Barbara Cottage Hospital
where she worked for 28
years. She is blessed with 6
children and 8 grandchil-
dren. In her spare time she
enjoys gardening, arts &
crafts, reading, baking and
also volunteers here at the
Senior Center. Mary consid-
ers the Senior Center her
“home away from home.”
Mary shares her home with
“Toki” here beloved cat.
The people that attend the
Senior Center are such
great people.
Happy New Year from the GVCC
Staff and Board of Directors. Best
wishes for a prosperous and joyful
year ahead!
Looking back, thank you for allow-
ing Jo and I to join you for lunch at
the Senior Center Christmas Party.
Good food, good company and
wonderful music. It was a very en-
joyable event, getting everyone
into the Holiday spirit. The GVCC
was all dressed up for the first
Christmas Parade in Old Town Go-
leta. “Santa” commented that our
parade had the heart and soul of
our community. We couldn’t have
hoped for a better outcome!
So, as we begin the new year let’s
remember what makes the GVCC
and the Senior Center so vibrant—
it’s all of us being intentional in our
participation in activities here at
the Center!

W e hope you had a won-
derful Holiday Season.
You can now pay your 2017
dues in the Senior Office.
Such a deal for only $10.00

Let’s all keep moving and try
to take off a few pounds from
all of the Holiday goodies we
splurged on.
Maybe try a new class of Tai
Chi, Chair Yoga or Line
Dance.
A yearly membership is
worth far more than the
annual dues amount …
I wish you all the best in 2017
and hope to see and hear
from you throughout the year.
V isitors are always wel-
come at the Senior Cen-
ter, either to take a tour, try
out programs any time
throughout the month, or just
poke around on your own.
Tuesday and Fridays are par-
ticularly good times to visit—
that’s when Swing-Along
Band is performing.
