•Solar thermal energy takes infrared radiation from the sun to generate heat.
•This type of energy is intended mainly in the production of 1) hot water 2) heating 3) hot water in swimming pools 4) electricity
These cookers consist in a box with a dark background, reflective walls,
and double fold: The lower glass, and the top of reflective material.
Such stoves are used for cooking slowly: food preparation take more
or less double time than with a conventional oven, however, will not
come to burn.
3.1) Box Cookers
3.2) Portable Cookers
A portable solar cooker, PSC, was created by xCRUZA’s Laboratory
with the premise and the objective to collaborate with the socialization
of the use of renewable and nonpolluting energies, through the
simplification and the optimization of the existing technologies.
3.3 Parabolic Cookers3.3 Parabolic Cookers
This type of oven is usually based on a concave disc that focuses the
sun's rays on the bottom of a pot. This cooker is almost as fast as a
conventional oven because the concentrated rays of sun reach very
high temperatures.
The container what we heat must be dark
1) Plates that form a dish: 1.1) These plates are reflective. 1.2) These plates do not absorb heat.
2) Bracket or base that holds the dish: 2.1) These bracket don’t weight too much.2.2) These structure is so simple.
3) Focus or center of solar radiation: 3.1) This focus isn’t small and hold a lot of weight. 3.2) These focus don’t absorb heat.
The steps that we followed to assembly
the parabolic solar cooker were:
1) We opened the packet and we read all the information
2) We ordered all the parabolic cooker parts.
3) We polished all the pieces.
4) And we began to mount all the parts.
5.1) We read all the information.5.1) We read all the information.
We used internet and asolar cooker manual.
We finished our search of informationWe finished our search of information
and we began to open the packet. and we began to open the packet.
We had a little incident, because Juan cut his hand.
5.2) We ordered all the parabolic cooker parts.
We did a list to check if we
had all the parts.
5.3)We polished all the pieces.
To assemble the support was verydifficult.
5.4)And we began to mount all the parts
Here the parabolic cooker was taking his final shape
Parabolic cooker nearly finished.
When we finished the cooker we organized a “picnic”.
We cooked some pizzas and one burned.
With this work we have learnt:
The different types of solar cookers that exists and how they work.
To solve the problems that arise in the construction of a solar
Cooker.
To manage a process of assembly.
The difficulty of build a mechanism like this.
How works a solar oven
