Radio broadcasting is a wireless transmission method over radio waves to reach a wide audience over a vast distance

One of the oldest forms of Mass Media Radio in the UK is dominated by the BBC, the BBC World

service radio network broadcasts BBC news in 33 different languages. Domestically there are 10 national networks and 40 local radio stations. This is all funded by the TV license funding.

Many commercial local stations are owned by a conglomerate radio operator. For example Global radio owns Heart, Galaxy, Capital and Classic FM.

Interactive media is media which uses products and services on a computer system to respond to the users actions.

Creative websites that allow users to create or distribute content. Eg Facebook ,Twitter, YouTube, Google, Reddit

The music industry is one of the most largest and profitable industries within the media, due to the masses that spend money on songs to purchase. Either for personal use or for a business purpose for example paying for the rights to play a song on a tv production

Physical media are sold by retailers and are owned by the consumer after they buy it. They do not own the recording and therefore cannot make digital copies from it because they don’t own the recording on the CD but instead just own that CD.

Digital and online distribution of music through Eg iTunes has made itself more popular than purchasing physical copies.

The press is a collective term for people who work in the news media, mainly reporters and photographers

Press sector can be broadcasted (Radio or TV) or printed

Newspapers are in two different types. The serious papers are broadsheets and there is a more pop-culture type called tabloid

A large range of Magazines are sold in the UK covering all different topics and interests. Worldwide circulation editions include, Hello! , NME and the Economist

Top news broadcasters include BBC News, Sky News and ITV News.

Advertising is a mean of communication with users of a product or service

Advertising is distributed on Newspapers, Magazines, Online, TV and on billboards.

The marketing sector includes the communication between audience and company. This is don’t through Market research where links are discovered between consumer and product.

A film is a story or event captured on camera in a set of moving motion images. That are usually premiered in cinemas or showhouses

The film industry is one of the largest and most profitable sectors in the Media industry.

The film industry is dominated by major companies. Paramount, Universal, 21st Century Fox, Disney and more. These are known as Conglomerates

There are other studios known as Independent studios which are more cult, social realist and controversial films as opposed to the Hollywood blockbusters

A video game is a type of user manipulation where images on a screen are instructed by the user

Computer games have had a huge surge within the last 10 years since proliferation in technology has lead to a huge increase in quality of the games and the hardware it runs off.

The main five big video game companies are Activision, EA, Nintendo, Sony and Capcom
