Reading : STAAR Focused Reading, especially in the areas of finding the main idea, using context clues to find word meanings, summarizing and using text features in Expository Text

Writing: Preparing for the STAAR Test on April 10 by improving in the writing process (planning, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing) to compose text; Learning how to write a Personal Narrative, Expository Narrative, and Time Management when responding to a prompt.

Language Arts :   How to improve on the use of commas, apostrophes, and being able to avoid run-on sentences & sentence fragments.

4th Grade Team

Look at what we are learning,

Math: We use both Go Math and STAAR Ready Math for practicing Strategies. We continue to use CUBES for math. C-circle all numbers, U-Underline the question, B-box in Key words, E-eliminate unnecessary information, S-solve for the solution. We are working on multiplication and division of whole numbers.

Science: Plant life and the effects that different soil will have on the growth of plants. We are studying the sun flower.

Social Studies: How has technology changed the way we live? For this lesson we are using My Sister’s Bike.

3rd Grade Team

Look at what we are learning,

Reading: The theme for Texas Treasure for this unit is Antarctic Life! We are learning about animals and plants that thrive in freezing cold conditions of that region.

For STAAR we continue to practice PLORE strategies in Reading. P-circle the title and predict what the story is about, L- locate the questions, O-organize information by numbering the paragraph and line number, R-read, reread, and read again, E-eliminate and evaluate answers.

Language Arts : We introduced singular and plural pronouns.

3rd Grade Team

Greeting Parents,

ELAR: writing complete sentences and learning correct punctuation. Writing sentences 5’x a week.

Reading: words on our word wall, 200 by June! Reading Dr. Seuss, books with a partner.

Math: - we are adding and subtracting numbers, reading the math sentences; and working on problem-solving with numbers.

Science / Social Studies: neighborhoods and community, and what we can do to ensure a better life for people around us, and in the future.

Kindergarten Team

Hello Parents,

Reading: We will be learning new sight words and the ending sound of words.

ELAR : We will be learning the letters X, Y, and Z.

Math : We will be learning addition up to 5.

Social Studies : We are learning about our monthly calendar and the differences between day and night.

Science : We are learning about life cycles of animals, plants, people, and other living organisms.

Pre-K Team

Hello Parents,

Reading: Students will be able to summarize, draw conclusions, and use context clues to come to an understanding of the information.

Language Arts: Students will be able to understand information using strategies.

Math: Students will know what it means to save and spend money.

Science: Students will plan and conduct an investigation to compare animal life cycles.

Social Studies: Students will be able to distinguish fact from opinion.

2nd Grade Team

Hello Parents,

Reading: : The learner will decode words In context and in isolation by applying common letter sound correspondence using vowel digraphs including long e (y, ey), controlled vowel sound (er, ir, ur,ar, or, oar, ore).

Science: We are learning about Force and Newton’s Laws of Motion

Social Studies: The learner will describe and explain the importance of various beliefs, customs, language, and traditions of families and communities.

Math: We are how to check our addition by using subtraction.
