    Examination One / Paper 4H

    Modern Poetry Anthology

    There will be one question set on the collection of poetry that you are studying

    (Identity).

    You must answer one question, which will be assessed for reading. The question will

    focus on at least two poems. At least one poem will be named.

    Assessment Objectives

    You are required to demonstrate the ability to read with insight and engagement, making

    appropriate references to texts and developing and sustaining interpretations of them.

    You are further required to understand and evaluate how writers use linguistic,

    structural and presentational devices to achieve their effects; and to comment on the

    ways that language varies and changes.

    Modern Poetry Anthology

    There will be two questions set on the collection of poetry that you are studying(Identity).

    You must answer one question only.

    You must write about a minimum of two poems, at least one of which will be named in the

    question. You will be required to compare that poem with at least one other poem,

    which may be named, or may be selected by you.

    Note that the two examinations, in English and English Literature, will refer to

    different named poems.

    Assessment Objectives

    You will be asked to explore relationships and comparisons between poems, selecting and

    evaluating relevant material.

    You will also be asked to explore the language, structure and form of the poems.
