Introduction

The summary which follows is an effort to update the history of the Kentucky Home Economics Association, now known as the Kentucky Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.

The first published history was entitled, “History of the Kentucky Home Economics Association, 1922-1960.” It was later revised to include the years 1960-1965. An interim document, “Chronological Record of the Kentucky Home Economics Association, 1966-1972,” was distributed. Later, “Volume II, Supplement to the History of the Kentucky Home Economics Association Years 1966 through 1986,” was compiled. A later document, “History Addendum of the Kentucky Home Economics Association, 1987-1991” was distributed.

This summary which follows was compiled by Dr. Sarah T. Henry, Executive Secretary who wishes to thank the readers, Martha Jenkins, Brenda Owen and Jane Ellington, for their careful review and helpful suggestions.

Copies of the publications and documents mentioned above may be found in the KAFCS file in the University of Kentucky Libraries Special Collections and Digital Programs in the Margaret I. King Library on the UK campus in Lexington and in the office of the KAFCS Executive Secretary.

Readers are encouraged to report any omissions or inaccuracies to the KAFCS Executive Secretary, [email protected]. This supplement to the history will be posted on the kafcs.com website.
