STAY SAFE ON AMERICA’S BIRTHDAYThanks to a combination of extra travel, alcohol and fireworks, the Fourth of July holiday is chronically one of the most dangerous and deadly of the year. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), alcohol plays a role in 41 percent of traffic accidents.
GIVE THANKS FOR A SAFE ARRIVALAccording to the AAA, over 48 million Americans will travel 50+ miles for Thanksgiving. Stay aware and sober as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration warns drivers that the holiday consistently boasts one of the deadliest accident rates of the year.
MAKE HEART HEALTH A PRIORITYDoctors have chronicled a rise in heart attacks around the winter holidays. Thirty-three percent more deaths related to coronary disease occur in the winter than in the summer. Behavioral changes around the holidays such as increased food, salt and alcohol consumption as well as emotional and psychological stresses may contribute.
