1976 - 2020 Retention Vote History This table shows the percentage of yes votes received by each judge from 1976 when the Council began to evaluate judges standing for retention through the most recent retention elections. A judge must receive a simple majority of yes votes to be retained in office. When first appointed, judges stand for retention at the first general election held more than two years after their date of appointment (district court), or more than three years after their date of appointment (superior court and appellate courts). After that, they stand for specific terms, which are: district court – four years; superior court – six years; court of appeals – eight years; and supreme court – ten years. 1976 - 2020 Retention Vote History (%) (Current judges are in bold and italics) 1976 1978 1980 1982 1984 1986 1988 1990 1992 1994 1996 1998 2000 2002 2004 2006 2008 2010 2012 2014 2016 2018 2020 Supreme Court Bolger 57.9 Boochever 67.8 Borghesan Bryner 61.4 Burke 68.6 72.9 Carney 63.0 Carpeneti 66.7 Christen Compton 69.7 64.3 Connor 61.5 Eastaugh 64.9 63.5 Fabe 57.1 54.4 Maassen 57.5 Matthews 53.5 65.1 60.8 Moore 69.1 Rabinowitz 67.8 59.0 Stowers 62.9 Winfree 64.9
