Drawn to the beautiful simplicity, rich character and incredible strength of the original wide plank floors in colonial New

England homes, Dale Carlisle developed an incredible expertise in restoring these floors which eventually spread into

crafting them from scratch. Using only the best planks from old-growth trees and handcrafting them to create unique,

lasting works of art, he built our future on a solid New England tradition.

Building above or below grade? Carlisle offers solid and engineered floors that can be used in most applications. Both

are made to the same exacting standards so they look and perform the same. In fact, if we didn’t tell you, you’d never

know the difference.

Wear Layer: a 3/16" wear layer compared to an industry standard of 1/12" to 1/8" offering the same thickness of sanding available as a solid floor without sacrificing the stability in an engineered platform.

Stabilicore: stability and floor longevity are enhanced by 11 layers of Baltic Birch backing.

Original grade sawn from the base and mid-portion of the tree, this

grade most resembles the floors of our ancestors.

this floor will have more knots, mineral streaking

and color variation then our other grades.

Heirloom grade the most revered floor we craft, sawn from the portion

of the tree with few or no branches. this produces a

floor with minimal character for an overall cleaner look.

Brusheda unique treatment developed by Carlisle, this is our most subtle surface texture. using specially designed brushes, craftsmen de-gloss and “un-smooth” our boards in order to give them a soft and gently worn texture with very fine brush markings. this technique can be combined easily with any of our other surface treatments for dramatic results. available on white Oak, rift & Quartersawn white Oak, Hickory, walnut, eastern white pine, Heart pine, ash and Cherry.

and classic patterns such as Chevron, herringbone and versailles. Or

we can work with you to create your own unique design, including room

Whether it’s a rare gem or the perfect steak, the cut determines the

value. For a diamond, it’s the facets and clarity that make it sparkle

in the eye of the beholder. For a steak, it’s the prime, center cut that

practically melts in your mouth as a culinary perfection. and when

it comes to wide plank wood flooring, the heart at the center of

select old-growth trees is the ultimate source of flooring perfection.

The key, of course, is that Carlisle does not use just any wood.

Because of our exacting requirements, we cut a premium log four

times to cut away what we won’t use in order to get to the prime

wood. here, this premium wood has the maximum vertical grain

density for superior strength and long-term stability. In addition

to the strength, this premium wood also displays the rich color,

distinctive character and exceptional stain absorption that artisan

craftsmen have prized for centuries. It is wood of a singular and

rare beauty…the only wood you’ll ever see in a premium quality
