Welcome to the wibbly wobbly world of umbrella (umbrella), a small local community project using arts for mental health & social change.

On May 27th 2015 the Big Lottery approved and funded a new pilot project for Blackpool to raise awareness and improve the happiness, Mental Health & Well-being of our older adult population, their families and carers. Blackpool as we know has a lot of problems, We have a lot of problems; poverty, drugs, alcohol, self harm suicide, unemployment, cause & symptom of our towns poor mental health, illustrated in our poor national rankings. Depression is particularly high across the general spectrum of the town including our Older Adult population impacting on their carers and family.

The wibbly wobbly world of umbrella (umbrella) is busy building a project that will deliver 3000 books and 10,000 self help cards on a variety of subjects including loss & grief, depression, the five ways to well-being & much more. Lovingly created by elephant, creative thinking (artist & therapist) & a variety of local community artists. These 1960's themed books & cards will be distributed across Blackpool from May 17th and through out June to coincide with national dementia & national carers weeks. We will also be producing a series of community arts projects creating audio, film, documentary and photography with the Blackpool Community to produce a series of creative social artworks for use at our Teapot Therapy event scheduled for later this summer.
