The variables in this next section were the sources for manyvariables appearing in project publications prior to 1983. Before using the following variables read Appendix G - COR000a for Recoding of 1957 questionnaires (8/18/62) and COR336at3 for Location of 1957 raw data: Status of variables and recommendations for 1983 recoding.

This section contains original and recoded variables from the April, 1957Questionnaire of Wisconsin High School Seniors and from a supplementaryquestionnaire mailed to the parents of Professor Little’s original 1/6 sample in October,1957.All recoded variables or those coded for the first time for this update have variable names which end in "q". Some of the questions on the April, 1957 questionnaire were coded for the earliest files but the variables were not carried forward on the master files. This section appears for the first timein 1983.

NOTE: 126 of the April, 1957 questionnaires reappeared after the completion of the 1983 recoding of these questionnaires. These questionnaires have not be recoded and added to the master file but we hope to code and add these data if we obtain additional funding.
