FLAMES 2016-17 PLAYER BIOSmatchup notesNOTES AND ANECDOTES - LIBERTY VS. CHARLOTTE

• Liberty and Charlott e are meeting for the fourth time on Saturday but for the fi rst time on a neutral fl oor.

• The 49ers are 3-0 all-time against the Lady Flames, most recently spoiling Liberty's 2014-15 home opener with a 79-77 victory at the Vines Center on Nov. 14, 2014.

• All three previous Liberty-Charlott e clashes have been de-cided by 10 points or fewer, beginning with a 62-56 49ers triumph in the opening round of the 2011 Postseason WNIT at Halton Arena.

• Both teams are seeking their fi rst win away from home this season. The Lady Flames are 0-2 away from Lynchburg, while Charlott e dropped a 71-64 contest at Fordham on Nov. 18 in its lone venture away from Halton Arena.

• Like Liberty, Charlott e has been aided by newcomers. The 49ers' top two scorers (both averaging 16.3 ppg) are a freshman (Jazmin Harris) and a transfer (Jade Phillips).

• Charlott e was picked to fi nish fi fth in Conference USA this season, while senior Laia Raventos was one of 20 players named to the preseason watch list for the Nancy Lieberman Award, given to the nation's top point guard.

• Conversely to Liberty, which plays only three total home games during November and December, Charlott e is playing seven of its fi rst 11 contests on its home court.

LIBERTY IN PENNSYLVANIA

• Liberty is visiting Pennsylvania for the fi rst time since closing out the 2015-16 season with a 67-51 setback at Villanova in the fi rst round of the Postseason WNIT on March 17, 2016.

• The Lady Flames are seeking their fi rst win(s) in the Key-stone State since a 72-56 victory at Kutztown on Nov. 25, 2013.

• Five of Liberty's eight games in Pennsylvania as a Division I team have been part of tournaments, including two in the 2003 Lafayett e Holiday Tournament, one in the 2004 NCAA Tournament (vs. Georgia at Temple), one in the 2012 Pre-season WNIT (at Duquesne) and one in the 2016 Postseason WNIT (at Villanova).

• Liberty is playing at Lehigh for the fi rst time.

PLANES, TRAINS & AUTOMOBILES

• A move from the Big South Conference to the ASUN Confer-ence combined with an ambitious non-conference schedule will lead to a considerable amount of travel this season.

• Including this week's trip, the Lady Flames have taken six total fl ights through fi ve diff erent airports (Charlott e, Chat-tanooga, Daytona Beach, Lynchburg and Philadelphia).

• By the time Liberty gets home from Lehigh Sunday night, the Lady Flames will have spent seven nights in hotels so far this season.

• Beginning with Wednesday's contest at Chatt anooga, Liberty is playing eight of its next nine games away from Lynchburg, as the Lady Flames have only one home contest (James Madison on Thursday) scheduled in a 45-day span.

TOURNAMENT TIME

• Liberty is aiming for its fi rst regular-season tournament ti-tle since Nov. 28 and 30, 2014. The Lady Flames topped Penn State and host Georgia State to claim the GSU Thanksgiving Tournament crown.

• The Lady Flames have won one regular-season tournament in Pennsylvania, defeating Loyola (Md.) 70-62 and Cornell 65-63 to take the Lafayett e Holiday Tournament, Dec. 29-30, 2003. Katie Feenstra scored the game-winning hoop with 1.2 seconds remaining in the title game.

LIBERTY VS. CONFERENCE USA

• Liberty owns a 6-5 all-time record versus Conference USA foes.

• The Lady Flames are meeting a Conference USA opponent for the third consecutive season. Liberty lost 80-64 at UTSA on Dec. 20, 2016 in the Rae & Criag Blair Memorial Tourna-ment. The Lady Flames then tipped off the 2017-18 season with a 63-55 triumph at Old Dominion in the Preseason WNIT's opening round (Nov. 10, 2017).

• Five of Liberty's six all-time victories over Conference USA squads have come in tournaments, headlined by its fi rst-ev-er Conference USA triumph. The Lady Flames topped then conference member DePaul 88-79 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in College Park, Md., March 22, 2005, advancing to their fi rst Sweet 16.
