Fundraising Update Our diligent, devoted canvassers were undeterred by the unseasonably cold weather as they wandered the neighbourhood in search of contributions of $35 per family (discounted to $30 up to June 18). The neighbourhood responded enthusiastically with over 75% of contacted households contributing. Special thanks to all the residents who contributed even though they are unable to participate due to other commitments. We will hold a special prize draw after the event to recognize their selfless community spirit. At the time of printing, there were still a few households that our canvassing teams were unable to contact. If you belong to one of these households, there is still time to count yourself in. Simply contact one of the Organizers (see Who To Contact) before the Streetfest (to save $5) or stop by the Registration Table on Saturday. The support from the local business community has been stellar with sponsorships covering 40% of event costs and many Silent Auction donations. See the Sponsors section for more information on their generosity and the Activities section for details on what is happening.

Silent Auction Over the past thirteen years, the Streetfest has raised $26,900 for charity.

We are building on the tradition of helping those in need by donating the net proceeds from this Silent Auction to Wounded Warriors Canada and Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada. Wounded Warriors Canada is a non-profit organization that helps Canadian Forces members who have been wounded or injured in their service to Canada. See www.woundedwarriors.ca. Ronald McDonald Houses provide a special "home away from home" for more than 20,000 families of children who are seriously ill and being treated at nearby hospitals each year. See www.rmhccanada.com. Thanks to many generous businesses and individuals, we will have 40-50 auction items - from clothing, to theatre tickets, to a will and powers of attorney package.

Check out www.turneystreetfest.com/silentAuction.html for a full list of auction items. Make sure you visit the Silent Auction tent, located next to the Registration Table between 3:30 and 7:30 PM. Auction winners will be announced at 7:45 PM, just before the Street Dance begins.

Volunteers We have a committed, hard-working Organizing Team but we cannot do it alone. The generous donation of time, energy and skills by our volunteers is vital to the success of each and every Streetfest.

We thank those who have stepped forward to help during the event and encourage those considering doing so to sign up online at www.volunteersignup.org/T4R34 or contact our volunteer coordinator, Ying Fu (see Who to Contact). During the Streetfest, volunteers will be: staffing the Registration Table where people pick up

name badges, door prize tickets, wrist bands, and Kids Free Raffle tickets

supervising the Silent Auction tables supervising Kids Korner (monitor Sports Combo

Bouncer, help kids with arts/crafts) supervising Boot Camp Challenge supervising Zorb Ball Racing coordinating Street Sports organizing food tables at the Supper in the Street arranging/moving tables, chairs, picnic tables before

and after Supper in the Street providing a BBQ and/or helping with the barbequing Ying is finalizing the volunteer assignments, so if you have volunteered but have not yet been contacted, please call Ying at 905-826-4146. High School students are reminded that all volunteer work will count towards the forty hours of community involvement required to graduate from high school.

2. Auction items have been donated by supporters of the Turney Drive South Streetfest to support Wounded Warriors Canada and Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada. The values indicated for each item are good faith estimates only.

3. Many items have certificates or replicas for display purposes.

4. A bid sheet is provided for each item with an opening bid value. All items available have bid sheets attached or located near the item. The first person to bid on an item must do so by printing his/her name and signing the first line with the preprinted starting bid. Persons desiring to bid subsequently must do so by entering an amount on the next line of the bid sheet that is higher than the previous bid by at least the Minimum Bid Increment specified at the top of the sheet.

5. All bids made by children under 16 years old require a parent’s signature.

6. Each bid sheet has the opening bid already pre-selected. Each new bid must be written on the next available line on the bid sheet and must raise the previous bid by at least the minimum bid increase noted on the bid sheet.

7. In the unlikely event of a dispute, the auction coordinator will have sole and final discretion in determining the winning bid.

8. Visit the Silent Auction tent to see the auction items and enter your bid on the bid forms. Go back periodically to the items to see whether you've been outbid. As the auction period continues throughout the day, more people sign bid sheets, and the prices increase.

9. After the bidding is closed, the highest bid will be highlighted, and the bid sheet will be taken to the item verification table. At this time, the validity of all bids will be verified. The highest bid will be declared the winner and the decision of the Auction Coordinator will be final. Shortly after the bidding is closed, the name and item number of the winning bidder will be announced. Please see the Auction Coordinator as soon as possible after the winning bids are announced.

10. All prizes must be paid for in full at the auction. Payment may be made by cash or cheque.

11. Your bid is a contract to buy. All sales are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds.
