The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo

THE ROYAL EDINBURGH MILITARY TATTOO IS A HIGH-PROFILE GROUP COMPRISING A CHARITABLE COMPANY (THE PARENT) AND THREE SOLELY-OWNED SUBSIDIARIES, INCLUDING THE OPERATING COMPANIES RESPONSIBLE FOR PRODUCING THE SPECTACULAR EDINBURGH TATTOO.

An icon in the British events calendar, set against the dramatic backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, from the entertainment company renowned for staging magnificent large-scale events in Scotland and abroad.

The mission of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo as a collective brand is to deliver world-class, public military events, rooted in Scottish tradition, which exceed the expectations of its audience and partners, and in so doing, contributes to its charitable purposes and to the prestige, prosperity and people of the nation, and friends and allies.

The Tattoo enjoys an enviable reputation for quality and spectacle. With core employees of 35, a turnover of £14.5M, and bringing over £77M in ‘additionality’ to the economy, the charity and its associated production companies seek increasing agility in a complex and competitive, global tourism and entertainment market.

THE ROLE

The incumbent, Brigadier David Allfrey, will step down at the end of 2020 after holding responsibility for both Chief Executive & Producer remits. The Board of Directors of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo have identified the need to split the role between two distinct appointments of Chief Executive and Creative Director. The Directors are currently seeking to appoint a new Creative Director to succeed and build upon David’s achievements.

The Creative Director will be responsible for The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo’s productions in Edinburgh and internationally.

The Creative Director will be responsible to the Chief Executive to ensure that creative content and talent acquisition sustains and develops the Tattoo’s world class reputation while adapting to changing consumer preferences within allocated budgets and operational feasibility.
