Introit God Be the Glory
GATHERING AROUND THE WORD
Call to Worship (Psalm 13)
How long, O LORD? Will you forget us forever? How long will you hide your face from us?
How long must we bear pain in our soul, and have sorrow in our heart all day long? How long shall our
enemy be exalted over us? Consider and answer us, O LORD our God! Give light to our eyes, or we will
sleep the sleep of death, and our enemy will say, “we have prevailed”; our foes will rejoice because we are
shaken. But we trusted in your steadfast love; our heart shall rejoice in your salvation. We will sing to
the LORD, because the Lord has dealt bountifully with us.
Hymn #667 When Morning Gilds the Skies
When morning gilds the skies,
my heart awaking cries:
may Jesus Christ be praised!
Alike at work and prayer
to Jesus I repair:
may Jesus Christ be praised!
Does sadness fill my mind?
A solace here I find:
may Jesus Christ be praised!
Or fades my earthly bliss?
My comfort still is this:
may Jesus Christ be praised!
Let earth’s wide circle round
in joyful notes resound:
may Jesus Christ be praised!
Let air and sea and sky
from depth to height reply:
may Jesus Christ be praised!
Be this, while life is mine,
my canticle divine:
may Jesus Christ be praised!
Be this the eternal song
through all the ages long:
may Jesus Christ be praised!

Prayer of Confession
Gracious God, we confess that our cost of discipleship is tiny compared to others. As we follow Jesus, we
struggle with surrendering each part of our lives and control to God. Lead us, Holy Spirit to follow where
you have been and where you are going. Teach us to surrender to your will through Jesus Christ our Lord
even if it makes us uncomfortable. (in silence, confess your personal sin…) Amen.
Assurance of Forgiveness
Gloria Patri Glory Be to the Father
Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen, amen.
The Peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. (Share your peace in the message section on Facebook Live)

Hymn #470 There is a Longing in Our Hearts
Refrain:
There is a longing in our hearts, O Lord,
for you to reveal yourself to us.
There is a longing in our hearts
for love we only find in you, our God.
For justice, for freedom,
for mercy, hear our prayer.
In sorrow, in grief:
be near, hear our prayer, O God.
For wisdom, for courage,
for comfort, hear our prayer.
In weakness, in fear:
be near, hear our prayer, O God.
4
For healing, for wholeness,
for new life, hear our prayer.
In sickness, in death:
be near, hear our prayer, O God.
Lord save us, take pity,
light in our darkness.
We call you, we wait:
be near, hear our prayer, O God.
RESPONDING TO GOD’S WORD
Affirmation of Faith: The Apostles’ Creed (Traditional)
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
he descended into hell;
the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
And sitteth on the right hand
Of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
the holy catholic church;
the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body;
and the life everlasting. Amen.
Hymn #451 Open My Eyes That I May See
Open my eyes, that I may see
glimpses of truth Thou hast for me.
Place in my hands the wonderful key
that shall unclasp and set me free.
Silently now I wait for thee,
ready my God, thy will to see,
Open my eyes; illumine me,
Spirit divine!
Open my ears, that I may hear
voices of truth Thou sendest clear.
And while the wave notes fall on my ear,
everything false will disappear.
Silently now I wait for thee,
ready my God, Thy will to see,
Open my ears, illumine me,
Spirit divine!
5
Open my mouth, and let me bear
gladly the warm truth everywhere.
Open my heart, and let me prepare
love with thy children thus to share.
Silently now I wait for thee,
ready my God, Thy will to see,
Open my heart, illumine me,
Spirit divine!

Prayer of Thanksgiving with the Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory forever. Amen.
SENDING INTO THE WORLD
Hymn #737 Lord Jesus, You Shall Be My Song
Lord Jesus, you shall be my song as I journey;
I'll tell everybody about you wherever I go:
you alone are our life and our peace and our love.
Lord Jesus, you shall be my song as I journey.
Lord Jesus, I'll praise you as long as I journey.
May all of my joy be a faithful reflection of you.
May the earth and the sea and the sky join my song.
Lord Jesus, I'll praise you as long as I journey.
As long as I live, Jesus, make me your servant,
to carry your cross and to share all your burdens and tears.
For you saved me by giving your body and blood.
As long as I live, Jesus, make me your servant.
I fear in the dark and the doubt of my journey;
but courage will come with the sound of your steps by my side.
And with all of the family you saved by your love,
we'll sing to your dawn at the end of your journey.

SAPC’S Closure to Last a Little Longer
The Session has decided to extend the closure of the church office and facilities a little longer to allow the
coronavirus task force to complete the final details of SAPC’s in-person worship and meeting procedures.
These procedures will be implemented once facilities reopen. During this latest closure period, all in-person
meetings and activities normally conducted at SAPC will continue to be suspended. Virtual worship services
on Sunday will also continue. The one exception to the closure is for funeral, resurrection, and memorial
services. The Session has allowed funeral, resurrection, and memorial services with family-only attendance
in the sanctuary. CDC guidelines will be followed for these services. The Session will make an
announcement when the procedures are finalized and the can church reopen.
7
During this period of closure, you may continue to pay tithes/make offerings by either using the online
giving options on the church’s website (www.southaiken.org), setting up a bank draft that is sent to the
church, or mailing a check to the church office (SAPC, attn.: Treasurer, 1711 Whiskey Rd., Aiken SC
29803). Online giving may be accomplished by clicking on either the Presbyterian Foundation (first button)
or PayPal (click on PayPal logo at bottom of online giving page). Please do not plan to drop tithes/
contributions off at the church because the office and building are closed until the end of May.

Marlee Rebecca Hare, daughter of Phillip and Rebecca Hare, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Aiken
High School on June 5th 2020.
Marlee was confirmed by the South Aiken Presbyterian Church in March of 2016 and was ordained as a
Deacon in the fall of 2019. She has been an active participant in the children’s, youth, and music
ministries of the church throughout all of her life.
Throughout her days at J. D. Lever Elementary School, Schofield Middle School, and Aiken High School,
Marlee has been deeply rooted in a passion for the musical, performing, and visual arts.
While at J. D. Lever, Marlee was involved in the Gifted and Talented Program and studied piano with
Pam Fulmer. In the spring of 2010, she was a member of the cast in the Aiken Kidney Benefit production
of Cinderella. Also, Marlee actively participated in the Aiken County Gateway Program for the Arts for
two summers.
Schofield Middle brought new opportunities as a cellist where Marlee participated in the Garcia All-
County Orchestra, the South Carolina Music Educators Midlands Junior Region Orchestra, and the Aiken
County Youth Orchestra. Additionally, she won the Schofield Middle School Cello First Chair Section
Leadership Award in 2014 and 2015 and the Strings Directors Award in 2015. During Middle School,

2014 and 2016, she performed as a soloist in Aiken’s Vocal Dimensions Voice Studio recitals.
In her senior year at Aiken High School, Marlee received the most musically talented superlative. While
in high school, she played first chair cello in orchestra, continued to perform with the Garcia All-County
Orchestra, made it into the South Carolina Midlands Region Orchestra a second time in her senior year,
sang alto with Belles Canto, and concentrated on her school work in preparation for college.
Marlee will enter the University of South Carolina Aiken in the fall of 2020. She will sing in the USCA
