A. T. Pagter, Jr. , M. D. , President, cal led the meeting to order onWednesday, October 17, 1984.

The staff distributed material for the Board members' review, and theBoard discussed the events scheduled for this meeting.

Conrado J. R. Miranda, IV. M. D. , Burgaw, North Carolina

The Board of Medical Examiners of the State of North Carol ina helda hearing on October 19, 1984, at the Grove Park Inn, Ashevi1 le, NorthCarol ina, on charges preferred against Conrado J. R. Miranda, IV. , M. D.Dr. Miranda appeared at this hearing without counsel. As a result ofthe hearing, the Board adopted a motion that it finds the charges tobe true. The Board also adopted a motion that the 1 icense to practicemedi cine i ssued to Dr. Miranda be revoked and that thi s revocation besuspended for a period of three years upon Conrado J. R. Miranda, IV. , M. D. , 'scompliance with the following conditions of probation:

1. Dr. Miranda shall be and remain of good moral character;

2. Dr. Miranda shall violate no federal or state laws.

3. Dr. Miranda shall not knowingly permit nor facilitate theperformance of medical acts or the practice of medicineby Josefina Miranda, M. D. , or by any other person associatedwith his practice who has not been validly licensed by theBoard of Medical Examiners of the State of North Carolina.

Walter H. Leonard, Jr. , Winston-Salem, North Carolina

The Board of Medical Examiners of the State of North Carolina helda hearing on charges preferrred against Mr. Leonard at 2:45 p. m. ,October 19, 1984, at the Grove Park Inn, Asheville, North Carolina.Mr. Leonard and his attorney appeared at this hearing. As a result ofthe hearing, the Board adopted a motion that it finds the charges tobe true and that, if Mr. Leonard successfully completed the EMT-Irecertification examination for which he sat on March 21, 1984,he be certified as an EMT-I subject to his compliance with the followingprobationary conditions:

1. Mr. Leonard shall be and remain of good moral characted.

2. Mr. Leonard shall violate no federal or state laws.

3. Mr. Leonard shall submit evaluation reports from his superiorsfor the Board's review sixty days prior to the date he is nextrequired to apply for recertification.
