New for 2017, The Gloucestershire Business Games sit besidethe now established Gloucestershire Business Show and providean opportunity for Businesses to enter a team to compete, havefun and support a CSR agenda, personal development andtraining for your businesses goals.The diversity and strength of Gloucestershire’s businesses,people and community makes it a fabulous place to live, play anddo business developing and consolidating that is so important.In their first year, The games will be focused on an engineeringproject to design, build and race a pedal powered vehicle.Embracing team building, health & wellbeing, engineering skillsand corporate, social responsibility, the games will provide anopportunity for businesses to be involved with some greatcompetitive activity, to help promote engineering as a career andmost of all – have a lot of fun!

Remember the pedal car you had as a child? – it was great wasn’t it!So this is nothing like that!The British Federation of Pedal Car Racing (BFPCR) holds the British Pedal Car Championship with races held atsome of the well known karting circuits around the UK.http://pedalcarracing.info/The Gloucestershire Business Games Pedal Car Race will be held to BFPCR specifications, though not includedin its championship series.Our Race Director, Rob Harris has for a number of years worked alongside the BFPCR to develop Pedal poweredRaces and we’re looking forward to building a race event that will be a significant fixture in the GloucestershireBusiness Community diary,

Promote engineering & technical design across thecounty of GloucestershireWhether your business is about engineering or not, youcan enter a team and in doing so help drive discussionand awareness about the importance of engineeringand technical design to the county.If you have engineers and workshops in house, thenyou can design and build from scratch working ontechnical solutions to give you speed, agility andaerodynamicsIf your business isn’t about engineering, then you canteam up with one of the county’s many engineeringbusinesses to create a collaboration that will forge greatstaff relationship, possible new clients – and might evenwin a race!Or you can opt to acquire a pre-raced car from aBFPCR race or corporate team – we can make all theintroductions you need.

Staff training & development– engineering apprenticesWhat a great opportunity for a practical training projectfor apprentices, engineers and workshop operators.Great challenges in fresh thinking and problem-solving.Produce a working and robust machine outside yourusual line of work, which later on will feed new ideas toyour normal processes. The team taking on the designand build will also find new relationships as they comeout to race their own pedal car.Staff training & development– team developmentFor those not involved in the practical engineering,there are places for drivers, project managers,mechanics, and non technical apprentices all of whomake up the team which has to pull together to win.

Brand Awareness, Marketing & PRAs a corporate team entry, You’ll be joining TheGloucestershire Business Games, competing withteams from other business across the county andbeyond.As a Race to BFPCR specifications, we will bepromoting the race and participating teams across allmedia channels with Bronze, Silver and Gold winners.We expect an exciting and high profile competition thatwill be covered by the Gloucestershire Business Showmarketing & communications team.Our team will fully engage with the Marketingcommunications teams for our corporate entry teams,with significant brand promotion of the games before,during & after the event.

The VehicleCars will be built to BFPCR specification and cantherefore also be raced at any of the six BPCC races(off-road circuits, March-Sept) and the street GrandPrix. The spec mostly concerns dimensions for wheelspacing, turning circle, brakes. Most cars use astandard derailleur mechanism but hub gears have theiradvantages. It also helps to invest in a differential whichoffers traction to both rear wheels.The RaceEach car will be scrutineered and fitted with a sensor totrigger the lap-counter.The Racing will be held over two days with heats andknock out finals that will result in Bonze, Silver & Goldpositioning,Each team will adopt a charity and a cash prize will beawarded to the Gold position split between the TeamsChosen Charity and the Gloucestershire BusinessShow Charity of the year.

They will be allocated covered space toprepare their vehicles and they must adhere strictly toall race rules and terms & conditions.
