St. Mary Parish Fourth Sunday of Easter April 22, 2018
4th Sunday of Easter
“I am the good shepherd, I know mine and mine know me.” These words from today’s Gospel hold both comfort and challenge! Are we willing to respond to what Christ asks of us? We are not asked to “go it alone.” We have the promise of Christ’s presence as we go out to others and share the “Good News.” Take time this week in prayer to listen to the voice of our Good Shepherd, and ask for the grace to be responsive to His call.
Catholic Appeal Update Through April 13, 2018
As of April 13, St. Mary Parish has reached 91% of our
2018 goal and received pledges and donations in the
amount of $109,577.

Dear Friends,
It seems appropriate that we begin
our journey together on Good
Shepherd Sunday. God’s word
today reminds us that God takes
care of His children, and He wants
us to take care of each other. I con-
sider it to be a great honor to
shepherd the faith family of St. Mary. I have heard so
many wonderful things about life and ministry here. It is
a great privilege to be your pastoral administrator (a.k.a.
pastor). I am humbled by and grateful for the 143 year
legacy of St. Mary Parish. I intend to honor our legacy
and to build on this great foundation. I am so grateful
for all who have devoted so much to our parish life
including our lay ministers, staff and our priests, pastors
and administrators, most recently: Fathers Messina,
Beaulieu, Bova Conti and Mulloy. I am grateful for our
resident priests, Fathers McGowan and Keville for the
loving care they give to our parish family. My prayer
and my commitment is that I will be a good shepherd for
you, and that we will be one flock, united by, in and for
Jesus Christ. As we begin our journey together, I
promise to love, to listen, to learn and to lead. Thank
you for your warm welcome and for your prayers. Jesus
the Good Shepherd, pray for us.
Easter blessings,
Fr. Rich Erikson

Our partners at Project Bread are celebrating their
50th Walk for Hunger & 5K Run on Sunday, May 6! Funds
raised by the Walk come back to organizations like ours that
work to end hunger in Massachusetts. We are so grateful to
Project Bread for their support of this critical work in our state.
Project Bread began 50 years ago with the first Walk for
Hunger, when a small group of committed citizens took to the
streets to bring awareness to this social justice issue. Today,
thousands of people still participate in the Walk to support the
1 in 10 people in Massachusetts who are food-insecure. Be a
part of this tradition. Join the movement today as a Walker,
Runner or Volunteer, and together, we can make hunger
history. Register today at www.projectbread.org/walk!

OUR COMMUNITY
Today’s Reflection
We continue our celebration of the Lord’s resurrection with some familiar images of Him that can give us comfort. First, Peter uses the words of the psalmist in describing Jesus as the stone initially rejected by the builders that then became the cornerstone. Then John writes that Jesus called himself the Good Shepherd, the one who lays down his life for his sheep. Let us reflect on how Jesus, who died for us, can be the cornerstone in our lives.
