Selected Case Studies:BANKING

#1 The sharia unit of a major domestic bank was spun off to comply with central bank regulations, leaving the unit to its own devices, also in terms of the Public Relations and Issues Management functions that it henceforth has to manage on its own. Kiroyan Partners assisted the client in developing its public relations capacity through media training, mentoring, media monitoring, media visits and press campaigns conducted professionally and ethically. After a year the client is fully equipped to face the public challenges of a modern business environment.

#2 A foreign investor acquired a prominent Indonesian bank. This has led to some concerns inciting public debate over the benefits and disadvantages of foreign ownership of domestic banks. These concerns included reputational risk, stakeholder pressure, policy changes as well as potential for unrest within both units. Kiroyan Partners assisted the client in the assessment of strategic issues, stakeholder analysis, as well as recommendations for dealing with the various issues. Kiroyan Partners also assisted the client in developing an internal and external communications strategy.

Selected Case Studies:CRISIS MANAGEMENT

#1 Through a merger and acquisition process a foreign oil & gas company became a non-operating part-owner of an asset that subsequently was involved in a serious environmental issue. Through a multi-year process we assisted the company to gradually disengage in a responsible manner while maintaining good relations with all stakeholders.

#2 It is a well-known fact that oil & gas companies are susceptible to blowouts, yet anytime it occurs, a crisis will ensue. The severity of the case depends on location and nature of the blowout. The matter needs careful and responsible handling at local and national levels, which we have done with another client.

Selected Case Studies:CAPACITY BUILDING

#1 An FMCG company is dissatisfied with its complaints handling mechanism which is seen as impeding its efforts to establish its reputation as a reliable company. We were commissioned to conduct a thorough analysis of the weaknesses and come up with a solution.

#2 The syariah arm of a bank was spun off in compliance with the central bank stipulations that syariah and conventional banks must be separated. During a one-year period we assisted the syariah bank in establishing a Public Relations function from scratch, including training its staff.

Selected Case Studies:COMMUNITY ISSUES

#1 Mining companies need a local license to operate from the communities in addition to the permits required by law. Prior to conducting outreach programs a thorough stakeholder analysis must be conducted followed by community needs assessment. This is what we did over a period of many years for a precious metals COW company.

#2 A base metals COW company was facing a complex community situation involving various ethnic groups who were involved in hereditary land ownership issues. Prior to proceeding to the formal licensing process, these communities need to be resolved. We assisted the company in dealing with this complex issue.

Selected Case Studies:MULTIDIMENSIONAL STUDY

#1 After a long absence from Indonesia a foreign company that supplies products and systems to the security and defense authorities was contemplating a re-entry into the Indonesian market and needed a reliable decision-making tool for this purpose. We analyzed all relevant aspects, including the specific political and economic conditions as well as industry-specific issues needed for the strategic decision.

#2 The Indonesian and Australian governments have agreed to enter into a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. The business sector will be a major component of the agreement. Kiroyan Partners was appointed by both sides to prepare a Joint Position Paper that is preceded by stakeholder analysis and stakeholder engagement in Indonesia and Australia.
