Rebar corrosion was related to carbonation(due to the change in the concrete pH).

Corrosion started from the inside out. The spread of deteriorated concrete areas

was accelerating.

1. Improve user safety: Stop carbonation Repair concrete (no need to add reinforcements) Waterproof the entire tunnel

2. Improve the aesthetics of the side and external walls

Limited traffic disruptions during works: Works for 7-hour periods during week nights Lanes reopened during the day and all weekend One direction closed during works Two lanes, sometimes one, open in the other direction

Applying the Tectoproof waterproofing system:a vapour barrier epoxy primer that tolerates a dry, saturated surfacea glass fibre epoxy composite

(possible use of carbon instead of glass fibre for structural reinforcement)
