ANGOLA UNITED NATIONS OBSERVER MISSION IN ANGOLA

MONUA (June 1997 – February 1999) Mandate: Monitor and verify the integration of UNITA elements into State structures Verify the neutrality of the Angolan National Police, and the incorporation of

UNITA personnel into the national police Investigate allegations of offensive troop movements, the presence of any

UNITA armed elements and the existence of weapons caches Monitor the dismantlement of checkpoints and UNITA command posts, and

the integration of UNITA soldiers into the Angola Armed Force Support the demobilization of UNITA ex-combatants and their social

designated locations Take steps with the parties to ensure the release of all Western

Saharan political prisoners or detainees, and oversee the exchange of prisoners of war, and implement the repatriation programme

RD CONGO

EU ARTEMIS operation in RD CONGO (from 12 June 2003 until 07 September 2003)

Mandate: Take part in the peace enforcement action in Ituri (Bunia) according

to resolution No. 1484 of the UN Security Council and the Decision No. 2003/432/CFSP

Assisting the security and cooperation of the African Great Lakes countries

Stabilize Ituri province with a limited military operation, and secure Bunia airfield

the African Great-Lakes Supporting the administrative and fiscal reform of

the army – transformation of the Defence Force Co-operation with EUPOL RD CONGO Humanitarian activities Strength: 8 staff officers (Kinshasa and Bukavu)

Mandate: Assisting the realization of the Djibouti Agreement Support of Temporal Government and governmental

organization Support of Uganda, stabilizing the region Assisting the activities of AMISOM Training of Somali government armed forces in alliance

with resolution no. 1872 of the United Nations Security Council

LIBYA

EUFOR LIBYA (from April 2011 to November 2011) Mandate: According to resolution No. 1970 and 1973 of the UN

Security Council, the EU will - if requested by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) - conduct a military operation in the framework of the Common security and defence policy (CSDP) in order to support humanitarian assistance in the region

contribute to the safe movement and evacuation of displaced persons

support, with specific capabilities, the humanitarian agencies in their activities

Strength: 2 medical officers (Rome HQ)

REQUIREMENTS

A minimum of 6 years in professional service At least an FCE in English (Intermediate level involving

writing, reading and speaking) Rank: captain or lieutenant-colonel Experience in military observation missions Age limit: 50 years High level of IT skills National and international military observation

programs Valid B category driving license and driving experience Perfect physical and psychological health

Change and reorganize salary control module of the peacekeeping service (increase the stipend)

Establish a proper and working Family Support System in the HDF
