Twenty years ago, the vinyl industry in Australia was under significant threat because of discrimination against PVC in the Green Guidelines to the Sydney 2000 Olympics. The industry came together under the Vinyl Council of Australia to advocate for environmentally responsible manufacture, use and disposal of PVC products and to improve the sustainability of the sector. Through constructive collaboration with external stakeholders, underpinned by extensive work across the vinyl value chain and life cycle of PVC products by the Vinyl Council and its members, the use of PVC products in Australia remains robust. We have since seen industry initiatives and innovative new products developed and grown.

We are proud that in Australia, we demonstrate some world-leading examples of vinyl manufacturing delivering benefit to sectors such as healthcare, construction, food and water. Innovation in our sector has also seen great strides forward in areas such as wall construction systems, medical product recycling, 3D vinyl compounds and new recycling technology.

Today we continue to focus on raising the profile of the industry and enhancing the industry’s opportunities for growth through sustainable development.

PVC AUS 2018 is the ideal place for those at the forefront of this industry to come together to learn about the latest technical, market and policy trends for PVC and to make new connections that may add value to your businesses and foster further innovation.

In the Vinyl Council’s 20th anniversary year, we are delighted to welcome you to PVC AUS 2018.

Take this opportunity to listen, question, and share your thoughts on what will shape the future of this industry.

Sophi MacMillan CEO, Vinyl Council of Australia
