High ReliabilitySince the main parts of the switchgear are completely sealed in metal enclosure, GIS is less affected frompollution, climatic changes and dielectric deterioration in consequence of time than air insulate switchgear(AIS). Our GIS is given early life test and full life test for customers to ensure safety and reliability. Also,diffusion of accident can be prevented by robust gas barrier in case of failure or fault found inside of the GIS.

CB & CT Module

The 3-phase common CB, a core equipment of the GIS, is composed

with CT in one module, the 3-phase interrupter is simultaneously

run by a motor operation or hydraulic operation.

The motor mechanism is disposed at the bottom part of the interrupter.

The CT can be installed to incoming or outgoing side, and also can be

composed of several units by number of CTs.

Interrupter UnitThe interrupter unit is applied thermal expansion double flow puffer (self-expansion) type, the most effective arc quenching method. This ensures high reliability to terminating accidental electric current, and minimal mechanical movement from at low operation energy tominimize stress delivered to the enclosure. Also, through interruptprinciple and electric field analysis the 3-phase common enclosure is used to minimize the width of bay

2. Contact separationThe arc is started between the arcing contacts. The gas flows to the arcing contact from the compression chamber through the expansionchamber.

3. Arc quenching The arc is developed and elongated between contacts.Pressure rise in expansion chamber dueto the arc. The expanded and compressed gas blast into the open gap of arcing contacts when the current reach to zero and then extinguish arc.

4. Open positionCurrent does not flow any more, and recovers the dielectric strength between main contacts.

The operating mechanism for circuit breaker is hydraulic type or spring stored-energy type that is installed at thebottom of the in parallel, for manual operation and easy to check close-open status for convenient maintenance.The circuit breaker mechanism is composed of separate module which make it a simple design, highly reliableapparatus made from latest technology.The lifetime of circuit breaker ensures over 10,000 use if mechanical life, with minimal use of parts to ensure.The circuit breaker mechanism minimizes the influence of temperature.

Spring ChargingThe motor(7) starts charging the closing spring(3) throughthe drive gears.The fly Wheel(4) meets the closing latch(5). Then, the motor is turned off by a control mechanism.

ClosingWhen the closing latch(5) is released by closing solenoid, the closing spring(1) rotate the fly wheel(4). The maincam(9) which is located on the closing shaft(8) with the flywheel(4) makes the crank lever(10) rotate. The mainshaft(11) is rotated and makes the CLOSE position, andsimultaneously the trip spring(2) is charged until meets thetrip latch(3).

TrippingWhen the trip latch(3) is released by the trip solenoid, the crank lever rotates by the trip spring. And the mainshaft(11) is free to rotate in the OPEN direction. At the end of the tripping operation, the rotation of the crank lever is decelerated by oil damper(12) and stopped.

3 Position SwitchThe 3 position switch is combination of disconnector and earthing switch put together, and is composed of finger and tulip type contact design.This eliminates the need for an additional mechanical interlock betweenthe disconnector and earthing switch, and also electric interlock. The 3 position switch is installed inside the 3-phase common typeenclosure which operates simultaneously by motor operation, and can bemanually operated in case of emergency.

Operating Principle The 3 position switch operates with conductor rotating twice. The conductor operates clockwise and closes DS when DS and ES is in open, neutral state. In order to close the ES, the conductor rotates counter-clockwise in first stage and in second stage the DS is open to a neutral state and closes the ES.

High Speed Earthing SwitchHigh speed earthing switch has finger type construction. It is operated by motor Spring mechanism and its moving part is inserted in the finger type contact Parts with high speed when it is operated.

The termination units of the GIS connect to the following equipment : �Overhead line�Underground cable�Transformer

Gas to Air Bushing Unit

SF6 gas- to-air bushing is a method that is generally used to connect overhead line with GIS or GIS and transformerconnection. The bushing can be made of porcelain orcomposite material to satisfy customer requirement.

Cable Connection Unit

The 3-phase encapsulated type cable termination is usedto connect high voltage cable to GIS. This connectingmethod is applied with conventional type cable sealingend and plug-in type, and with no special request givenby the user the IEC regulation is applied.

TR Termination

This connecting method is used when connecting directlyto the GIS and transformer. The 3 phase segregated unit of the GIS is used toconnect to gas-to-oil bushing of the transformer, andexpansion joint is provided to absorb vibration andtemperature change caused by transformer.

Bay control Mimic

Local control panel can be customized, also can attach BCM(:Bay Control Mimic).BCM is optional item to allow convenient monitoring and control system of GIS.Due to BCM, control relay and other components can be minimized.Hard-wires which are between each component can be dramatically decreased.And makes it easier to control, repair and maintain.

GIS Manufacturing

Quality is a key measure to manufacturing, as LS Industrial Systems provide 7 stages of GIS manufacture process from material control to delivery to the customer.Each stage is strictly controlled for the quality control, and all assembly works are done in clean room to ensure highest level of insulation of the GIS. The GIS is complete assembled in assembling room according to customer’s layout and shall be done the final routine test and assembling check in accordance with customer’s requirement to prevent every possible failure,and only those products that have passed the test are delivered to our customer.
